I'm glad a pace lap in a 211k-mile 328Ci with old all-seasons and Rock Auto brake pads got you jonesing for some seat time! Seriously, that sounds kinda sarcastic but any hit of the GFCP is a good one.

To start, towing any car with your Tacoma is a terrible idea, so don't do it. Also, if you think you need to tow your car anywhere for the sake of a 30 minute Hyperdrive, the car is not in good enough shape to be put on track in the first place.

That said, for the sake of doing said Hyperdrive, you should...

• Make sure your tires have tread and are properly inflated
  
• Make sure your brake pads have meat left on them
  
• Get some fresh brake fluid in the car
  
• Make sure no fluids are catastrophically leaking from anywhere (little drips/seeps are fine, leaving puddles when you park is not)

Beyond that, show up, borrow a helmet and drive your car. Listen to your instructor and do what they say. You'll learn some stuff and have fun doing it :thumbup:

All UHaul trailers only require a 4-pin plug for lights. They use (really shitty) surge brakes that activate when you brake your tow vehicle and the weight shifts forward enough to activate the trailer brake controller, which does its thing on the tongue.

Unrelated note. How would my truck fair towing a Miata? That plus a trailer would be at least 1500 under the tow capacity for my truck.

No. STAPH. The Tacoma was not designed to tow as you're intending. With a truck that light and no trailer brakes it's just a disaster waiting to happen. Not to mention, running through Uhaul's towing wizard it, it suggests none of their towing options are recommended for your truck.

Just because it is rated to handle the weight, doesn't mean you should. Short wheel base and narrow body is a no go for safe towing. Have you completed the lift of your truck yet (lowers towing capacity significantly)?

I think I'll listen to you this time, Scott. I didn't know, which is why I asked. The lift isn't "complete" but is lifted 2 1/2 inches.

So after checking the oil last night, it showed that I have burned 0 oil in the 700 miles since I changed the oil with the recommended Mobil 1 Euro spec oil, which Channing wasn't using. Very intetesting. Whether or not i read the dipstick wrong or what, it hasn't ever gone this far without me having to top it off since I bought it.

I also had a "Service engine soon" light come on yesterday, but it went away when I started it this morning. I'll still go get it scanned to see what it was.

Service engine soon lights are usually timer based to remind you to change oil and such. I seem to recall bmw having some sort of sensor to detect oil color or something. But It probably just needs to be reset

Taylor, if you are already having an Ike and Tina Turner relationship with this car now when you turn it over to track duty that's going to increase exponentially. That along with the fact that you don't have a truck that is capable of towing it *when it definitely breaks* makes that idea something that I don't think you are prepared for.

I know you're all "broooo I totally want to racecar too" but think through the issues you've already been having, how much of that has eaten up your free time, energy and dollars and think about a smarter way to go about it. Honestly, for you it makes more sense to work backward and start first with buying a more capable truck / tow rig if you plan on "racing" to be a "thing" for you for a long time. You're going to need it whether you're tracking a junker E46 or a GT3RS

After the E36, BMW changed the light to say "Service Engine Soon" instead of "Check Engine" because I guess the former isn't quite so alarming to housewives who see the light come on as they navigate through the urban jungle on the way home from a mani/pedi. :thumbup:

So I waxed a car for the first time ever today and DAMN does this car look good when it's shiny. I honestly was impressed. Cleaned it all good and met a guy at Martin's. Him and his dad drove up from Roanoke and I showed him every. single. little. broken. thing. Even showed him some stuff I shouldn't have, but I still sold it for around what I wanted. Then.... a piece of the door trim fell off as I was signing the title, so I knocked $50 off the price to be nice. I honestly think he pulled it off, because he said the same thing happened to his old one and his dad always fooled with it before... but what can you do?

Funniest part is I actually never signed the title. I filled out everything and wrote up bills of sale and forgot to sign the title. Good thing he was at the DMV here in Harrisonburg.
