Got a ride in the S8 the other day to lunch. It has probably the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in for a factory car. Lots of beautiful carbon fiber and the nav screen flips out from a carbon fiber panel in the center of the dash which I thought was neat. The tweeters also pop up and rise out from the forward part of the dash. The ride was more refined than the RS4 as well as the power delivery... although he didnt get on it quite as much. V10 for the win though, that car is definitely sweet.

People wonder why modern cars are so fuckin heavy... They could shave 100 pounds off the car by just deleting all of the little motors and mechanisms to pop up and make you say "that's neat".

it's the creature features that sell the cars and make them that much more expensive. :?:

I don't think anyone wonders that.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

IRON MAN, was like all Audi-ed out as well.

But as for Audi's i feel like for the performance and money, a comparable BMW price wise, is almost always better. Although i agree with the 3 series comments before, except for those newer twin turbos. Those are nasty.

Finally got a ride in the R8 yesterday. What a stunning car. I was struck by the amount of cabin space you have for a 2 seater. I feel like it would be comfortable even for people who are pretty tall. The seat was far more supportive than the S8's but not quite as comfortable. This particular car had an Audi Exclusive white interior (white is not offered as an interior choice on 09 models so it was customized for the owner) with badges on the doors to remind you of it. He also has carbon fiber mirrors on the way as well as a carbon fiber steering wheel. The Bang and Olofsson (sp?) sound system was phenomenal.

He let me shift it from the passenger seat a few times and I was struck with how weighted and beautifully notchy and secure the shifts were. The car was extremely flat through the turns, and he didnt even put the suspension into firm mode. Power delivery was very smooth; he was keeping it under 6k rpms for the break in but he definitely got on it for me. Exhaust note was amazing. I feel like this is definitely the kind of car that you could do a really long road trip in.

And a bad shot of the custom interior:
