I wonder what, if any, implications this has for the MSM and American's consumption of it. Watching this in real time (I was up till 2:30) was fascinating.
I would hope everyone got woke AF to how these orgs operate this election season, but I know millions likely haven't. Still, I'm wondering what conversations will come about now concerning, well, everything about how we create and disseminate our information. Already seeing some (ironic) introspective articles from NYT, WaPo, and the like.

HOPEFULLY we can keep them focused on fiscal responsibility, actually make some progress, and steer them away from targeting people they don't think their god likes.

it may still be, at least as we know the GOP now. there are a lot of pieces on the ground after all the fallout from the campaign. i just have no idea how to predict this guy. what an insane year.

I'm much more worried about religious values stomping on the rights of real human beings, which are just a tad more important than "merh gunzz!!" Trump can't do anything too important except piss off people with words, but a conservative government full of hateful old men can sure murk up the waters of freedom.

All you need to do is read the smugly confident opinions of people before when they thought there was no way someone like Trump could get elected to see why he won. The media lost the mainstream of American consciousness a long time ago to pander to myriad idiot college students and hipsters, all the while forgetting the backbone of the US relies upon a trod-upon middle class that isn't around to answer phones when pollsters call, because they actually have to to get up for work.
It feels good to watch the disbelief now. Smugness truly is an intoxicating taste, isn't it?

"Real human beings". I think what we can grasp, at least partially, so far is that the masses, who felt, either real or imagined, ignored, silenced, demonized, nevertheless wanted to show that they are in fact real. Food for thought here - I think millions of Americans - no more or less "real" than any others - felt this way at the ballot box.
By no means do I want to claim I'm tolerant of the right, but you don't see me pushing legislation to ban Christian marriage or take away the rights of the coversatives. THAT is the difference. Both sides sling mud, only one wants to keep the other from having the same rights as them.

They're everybody's rights, number one and number two, whaddya call this? Exactly, they're everyone's rights. Not targeted towards any one group based on race, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender, color, height, hair style, income, or hybrid vehicle of choice.
So you're saying you feel targeted? Feels bad, doesn't it.

I think people should be more worried about Republican owned Congress than a Republican President, but that's just my insight. Not supporting Trump just saying what people are missing here if they are swing to the left.
Senor_Taylor Wrote:So you're saying you feel targeted? Feels bad, doesn't it.
No? :dunno: I'm saying it's complete wrong and incorrect to imply that one party doesn't care about rights and the other one does? Just because it's a right you don't value doesn't mean it belongs only to certain people, or to no one.

Like the one we've had for 6 years and enjoyed marriage equality under? And a general, slight, trend of expansion of rights for everybody?
I'm...very...worried? That will continue?

I'm sorry for your impending loss of gay marriage rights and birth rights.
I'm not implying one party cars about "rights" and the other doesn't. One cares about the rights of themselves and their bible, while one cares about equal rights.
At the end of the day, first and second amendment rights apply to everyone, they affect everyone. If a pregnant transexual zebra wants a rifle, they can buy one. Meanwhile, women's, minority, and gay rights affect specific groups.

Do you mean last two years? House has been majority republican not senate.
Now with majority in both plus a president it will be different thing.

No one has impending loss of rights, and I think you have a wrongheaded idea of rights. Minorities, women, gays, do not and should not enjoy "special" rights. Rights are universal. If they aren't universal, they aren't rights. If the enumeration of a "right" has to be worded in such a way as to impact only specific groups, then what you are describing is not a right. If a right has restrictions on it for only certain groups, then you have injustice. But "gay rights" apply to everyone, and must.

I'm not too worried because I am lucky and have white male privilege and am straight but I know some friends that will be worried about the possible upcoming things going to happen. Who knows what can happen and I hope it's all okay for others
Edit: just to clarify I don't things will change. At least I hope.

I'm really starting to think you made this thread so you could feel superior to everyone by being a pedant about terms just to be right. Thank goodness for Papa Rex.
