ScottyB Wrote:my inlaws bought my son a little toy-grade $35 r/c rock crawler. its legit super fun, but we killed it in 48hrs doing cool stuff with it like little jumps and banging over obstacles. the axle gears were spinning on the axle shafts due to a cheap, loose fit and just taking some shock loads (hobby grade r/c cars have slipper clutches to negate this). normal course of action is treat it like a disposable toy or return, and i had already thrown the box away. i hate throwing out little cars like these because of 1 out of 200 parts that went bad.
got back into my teenage r/c car mindset and tore into it today for a lunch break and drilled a tiny hole through the gear + axle together and pinned them into place with a piece of paper clip, McGuyver style. no more slip, drives like new, should be pretty rugged now (until all the teeth strip off the gear  ). saved from the trash, for now!
