They are kind of replacing Rockingham with this...<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.jmu.edu/orl/our-residence-halls/apartments-on-grace-street.shtml">http://www.jmu.edu/orl/our-residence-ha ... reet.shtml</a><!-- m -->
It is not a direct replacement because it is in a different area. I don't think they know what they are going to do with the Rockingham real estate at this point.

Seems to me that we're on topic with the thread title... :dunno:
It wouldn't be an MM thread if we didn't end up totally off topic.
It blows my mind that when I drive through H-burg I hardly recognize the place. Nowhere else can change so much in 3-4 years, it's wild. I feel like my parents talking about how Plymouth, Mass looked in 1987 when they left compared to now, except everything has happened in like 1/10th the time.
When I graduated they were just starting those athletic fields on Port & Neff, that burger place wasn't there at all, and Dave's was still open. They were just breaking ground on those apts on Stone Spring that you can see from 81, and you could drive Bluestone Dr from end to end without getting stopped by a gate. Oh and MLK Jr. Way was called Cantrell, which is where the hospital used to be. I'm sure that's not even the tip of the iceberg, and if you get DJ going you'll hear a whole 'nother generation's worth of changes.
(I can only imagine they used a horse and buggy instead of a campus bus when Kaan was there.  )

That burger place lasted about 3 months. It's now log cabin bbq lol. And daves is now a delicious donut place. And campus corner gas station now has a daves attached to it lol. Since you've been gone, they also built aspen and now there is a road that connects 42 by the Dayton Walmart all the way to port at the new hospital. Oh and the "sunchase-pheasant connector" (the back way over the railroad tracks) was cut off because of it.

I took this pic (on a film camera) before my first MM event - Verona auto-x in Sep '05. That is the Chaser's lot before the Outpost bookstore was a thing. Adam Lee and Ryan T in the pic. So...old.....
No 865 East, N38, or any of those other new places, old hospital, small stadium, no sports fields, no e hall, no science libary or skyline dorms, no Warsaw deck, etc. I too am unable to reconcile Hburg today vs. what it used to be like.

Log Cabin BBQ didn't make it either. It closed like a month ago. And do not get me started on remember when.... I remember when there was a Walmart attached to the Mall. And when Spanky's was downtown. The year was 2002 and it was a lifetime ago.

I figured log cabin would go under. Surprised it lasted as long as it did. I only ever saw like the same jeep there who i assume was owner or manager.

Log Cabin is now closed. Also, the road from 42 to Reservoir will soon go all the way to 33, I'm pretty sure. There's also a new apartment complex on Stonespring (between Port and 11) that's being built. There's also the new Student Success Center with the new (possible parking garage?) being built right next to it. That Frat house on East grace and MLK was torn down. Bluestone will soon be 3 (possibly 4?) lanes wide at Port. Newman lake is smaller and a path connects Bluestone over to the Treehouses. Not to mention the Lower Urec Turf is gone where they are almost tripling the size of UREC.

If the car show happens, you better be making it for the entire weekend. We have many things to reminisce, don't worry, I have grown up a little bit. I plan on actually bringing a car this year, wether it's the LS1/M3, the Z06, or the SpecE46 depends on the weather (more to do with if the weather cooperates and I can get something running  )

East Grace and MLK? Those roads run parallel, dont they?
And you mean the reserve at stone port which is right off of port at the hospital? Thats not for students and they actaully say they arent going to allow undergrads.
And yea. The road is supposed to eventually connect 33 and 42.
They are supposed to be widening resovoir this year as well.
Oh yea....get a miata or a honda of some sort.

No, the road that goes by the health center entrance now. Might be called South Mason or something.
And possibly. It's in between Stone Spring and the little side road that USED to connect Port over to Pleasant Hill road by Cracker Barrel.
I really hope they do. Reservoir might be the crappiest road in Harrisonburg.

Trashby! I remember skinning my chest diving into the pool hammered coming back late from a party. I'm lucky I didn't get paralyzed. My brother and I also saved a kids' life there, true story. Dumb drunk fell over the 3rd floor balcony and we caught him by his pants. Also was there for the riots DJing a party after graduation and watched some kids get lit up by pepper spray paintballs. Good times!

Totally off topic as expected haha. To go back to the previous discussion, I enjoy getting my hands dirty, especially if I have knowledgeable help. I know a decent amount about cars, but don't have a whole lot of wrenching time under my belt, but am always down to learn some more.
The problem I have with the Eclipse is that I end up paying as much as the car is worth every 16 months or so because big things break instead of smaller things that I can fix. I've replaced the engine twice and now the transmission. Now the new trans (w/ 86k on it) is shifting rough and popped out of third twice on the last 33 cruise. And I'm just getting sick of dumping money into it. Seriously I could've bought two Miatas with the stupid amount of money in this thing haha
