New Bike & transporting

So I'm headed down to Richmond tonight, uhaul trailer in tow to look at a SV650 tomorrow.

Few details after a phone call:

Been dropped 1 once and low-sided once. First time it was knocked over by a storm onto it's right side and he went through insurance and had everything replaced by Ultimate Cycle in Midlothian, Va.

It was low-sided on the left and had everything replaced by Ultimate Cycle as well to include the fork bottoms.

About 2,000 miles on tires and oil had been changed every season. Mainly selling to gather money for a house. Guy seemed very straight forward and he's the original owner.

I'm thinking ~$3100 is tops I'll go on it.

I reached out to G. but does anyone have some additional suggestions on properly securing the bike in the trailer?

I don't like ratcheting my suspension down so I opt for a wheel chock and I attach my straps on my caliper brackets and rear swingarm. It's fairly stable although probably not as bullet proof as crunching the suspension down. It also requires a wheel chock though so I guess it's not particularly helpful. Just be careful you don't blow the fork seals out. I've only ever used a canyon dancer for an ATV but if I recall they don't prevent the forks from compressing

Just needed some pointers on properly securing a motorcycle other than the obvious because I've never done so?

Wheel chock is overkill. Dont get the straps that arent ratcheting, you cant get the suspension compressed enough.

You don't have to bottom out the suspension. 4 ratcheting straps would be ideal, compress it most of the way down, you'll be fine. Especially if there's a front lip on the trailer the front wheel can push on.

Ehh..all sounds overkill to me. I've towed mine plenty with front straps and whatever compression I could put on it by sitting on the bike. Never had an issue.

I've seen them come loose, and there is zero downside to the ratcheting straps.
