Looking to pick up one of those lockable steel gun cabinets.. Similar to Stack On's..
I've seen lots of wooden ones with glass on CL but that leads people to ask questions when you invite them over..
If you got one or know of someone looking to dump theirs let me know
I'll be at JMU this weekend if that makes any difference..
Ryan and I traded one of those back and forth. I sold it to him, bought it back, and then sold it to my uncle. Gander Mountain has them for like $150 I think.

If it matters, I picked up a sorta fancy one from amazon and am very happy with it.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Good to know Jeff.. I'll price comparo between them and Dicks..
check bass pro as well. The NON Fire Proof Safes cane be had for $100-200, bucks, the pricey ones, $500-1500 are generally fire proof.
FWIW, I did a bunch of retail shopping and no one could compete with amazon's pricing... especially since there's no sales tax and shipping is free.

Or you could just pick it up at TSC for $299.... http://www.tractorsupply.com/tools/safes/sentry-reg-safe-10-gun-combination-lock-safe-4061927
(Note- the one at TSC is manual combo not e-lock but still...savings FTW)

"Fire Proof" is a bold claim for any safe to make. Mine is 30min fire rated I think. Which is only sorta protection. It would not survive a fire that takes the house down to the foundation. I keep my documents inside ANOTHER fire safe inside of that safe to insure the important paperwork makes it out ok. I got a smokin deal on my proper safe from TSC. I think it was $500 on sale when I got it. Link is dead on the TSC site right now or I would have posted it. It is a 24 gunner. I almost died getting it into my basement.

That is a pretty good deal, but I was dead set on no combos.
I keep my documents in a safety deposit box.
None of those consumer grade safes are worth a whole lot for fire protection.

I like the stack-on cabinets and I still have one, but unless you plan on mounting it to the wall/floor don't expect it to deter thieves. If it wasn't mounted to a wall I could pick it up and carry it full of guns with ease.

It's not entirely thieves.. It's more like preventing new roommates/unknown visitors from blabbing/poking around..
Do they make a gun safe that fits under a bed? Maybe it should be invented? Mount a heavy duty track to the floor, put the safe on bearings so it could slide out, with the door opening up?
I guess the downside is having to drill holes in the floor..but how often do you move your bed?

A) My "gunsafe" under the bed was all of them on top of a futon mattress I could slide out in a heart beat.. Like a wall o' guns.
B) NEVER until I have to move out in a year..
