Oh I didn't think about Charlottesville, if you want to drop some mad duckets there are tons of amazing restaurants.

Very trendy seafood bar, this place has the advantage of being on the downtown mall which means you can do lots of other stuff Vday evening.

Kick ass south african restaurant, last time I was there with a party of 6 and the tab was a bit over $300 not including the $60 tip we left.

Quote:I had heard about Downtown 56 before, but not sense I've been back to the burg. I may have to give that a try sometime.

You should give it a try for lunch as you can try it out and generally escape for $10 or less. I have the advantage of living one block away. Wink

The Local is just a couple of blocks from our house in Charlottesville. We go there at least a couple of times a month, and have yet to be disappointed.

I"m not sure who originally suggested Clementines, but I'd nix that place. I went there with 2 or 3 guys from work for dinner one night and we were thoroughly disappointed. Beer selections was pretty good but you could get most any of them next door at Dave's for $1 less. Food was meh to bleh. Specialty drinks were gross. Atmosphere was really cool though and the service itself was excellent; that's about all that place had going for it IMO.

Wow... have never heard anyone say anything bad about the place.. I wouldn't really consider Dave's as "nice" dining in Harrisonburg, you're their for the drinks and cause well, it's basically just a bar.... as for the food at Clementines, I am actually quite concerned that you found it to be "bleh".. every time that I have been the food has been exceptional. Maybe if you're used to eating greasy crap... but the dishes at clementines were unique and most enjoyable..

I don't consider Dave's 'fine dining' but their drinks are cheaper. The food is not really comparable to Daves but none of us enjoyed it. The people I went with ranged from people like me (I don't really eat greasy food that much) to multi-millionaire's used to fine dining and none of us were very impressed with anything other than the service and the atmosphere. Neat? Yes. Would any of us ever go back? No.
