Spring 2014 Plans!

Hey guys!

So a few of you all weren't able to make it (and I'm sure the alumni are curious as to what is going on) so I'll go ahead and post the plans for this semester.

First off is the set in stone dates:

Karting- March 1st
We will be carpooling to G-Force in Richmond around 7ish in the morning. All information can be found in http://www.mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11060

March Madness at VIR- March 21-23rd
We try to go to as many of NASA Mid Atlantic's events as possible (because put simply they are beyond fun). This is the opening event of the year since they didn't have a February event. We will carpool down Friday night/Saturday morning and times will vary on when we are coming back home. Regardless you will have a ride there and back.

Spring Car Show- April 5th
Every year we have a philanthropy car show in the spring. The car show will be in the baseball lot. This year all proceeds are going to Bipolar Aware. Our hopes this year are to expand even more than we had last year. Specifically we hope to get vendors out and more donations for raffles/trivia etc. We are working on building this thread now.

Spring Rumble at Summit Point- April 26-27th
This is another NASA-MA event. Summit Point is a little closer to JMU so this is a lot more convenient for us to get out to.(roughly an hour and a half).

Here are some tentative dates/ideas with dates getting worked on:

Dinner and social get together at Chris's: Looking at possibly the 15th of February
Great Falls Cars and Coffee: waiting for weather to warm up so we can see some F40's and such
Educational Meeting: Later in semester somebody will come in and explain something technical (i.e. engines, suspension, turbo, etc)
I don't have the sheet on me but I believe there was other things we mentioned as well. I'll update it, I just don't feel like going out into the blistering cold again.

Looks like a nice spread! I'm looking forward to the car show and will definitely come out to the Summit Point event.

If/when you guys come up to Great Falls make sure you throw up a thread in advance, a crap ton of us Alumni are up in NOVA. I like to go in February/March when we have a warmish weekend. If it's over 35* it's not bad to walk around, and all the die hard guys are still there, but you don't have to shoulder through the crowds like later in the spring.

Absolutely man! We probably won't be heading out that way till later in the semester (marchish). I'm going to start utilizing the forum more for posting events so all of you alumni can see what's going on or join if you care to!

I spent some time looking for autocross events closer to NOVA this morning, and the CDC has events in Winchester that are about an hour from Hburg and wouldn't be a bad ride for current students. When they post the 2014 schedule I'll make a thread for them.

Also, when you do come up for the C&C you might want to plan on coming up the night before and crash with some of us Alumni. It runs from 7-9 AM and there is usually a hard stop at 9, its a diplomatic thing to keep the other business owners in that shopping center happy. Maybe we could do a little MM cookout or something that day.

Excited for the dinner because I still feel like I haven't met a lot of the current members. The only ones I know are the ones that came to the dinner that Jake led up.

Edit: Also, as soon as we get flyers or something for the car show, that'd be great. I'll make a thread on TacomaWorld and see if we can get a dozen or so trucks in the show Already have 3 or 4 coming.

I'll ask Ryan from Steven Toyota if he wants to throw some stuff in soon.

I think the Central VA section of TW is going to meet at the car show, and when it's over we're going to go wheel at Flagpole, so any MMers who wheel are certainly welcome.

Okay, I just e-mailed the guy I know at Steven Toyota. Hopefully we can get them on board for the car. What would be a good thing for them to do? Prize packages or something?

You should talk to the officers directly about this stuff and see what they have planned and the details they can provide.
