Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - rherold9 - 10-18-2015 I may get a ride to come up but I probably won't be driving since the car will be through an HPDE weekend before. I feel like the fall finale won't be nice on tires and this will probably be even worse Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - NTIman - 10-18-2015 Senor_Taylor Wrote::lol: Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - 95SVTCobra - 10-18-2015 Kaan Wrote:that mustang needed door numbers on it this weekend!Well Kaan I think the day has come . I am excited about this event, for sure. Should be a good time, hitting the GFCP is always a good time, especially when all your friends are addicted as well . Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - SlimKlim - 10-19-2015 I registered for 11/15 in the E36, although I do reserve the right to show up in the GTI last minute if it's too cold or rainy. 8) Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - RawrImAMonster - 10-19-2015 I'm going to plan on doing one of these now that I have a car I don't mind beating on a little. Are you all doing the AM or PM sessions. I'm not sure I can be up and awake for the AM session on a Sunday. Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - Senor_Taylor - 10-19-2015 James and I are out since we DO need a roll bar. Oh well, at least I can work that weekend to save up to buy one. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - SlimKlim - 10-19-2015 I signed up for both Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - rherold9 - 10-19-2015 Senor_Taylor Wrote:James and I are out since we DO need a roll bar. Oh well, at least I can work that weekend to save up to buy one. I sense a hyperdrive coming. You now just need some more heat resistant brakes after the roll bar  Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - Senor_Taylor - 10-19-2015 I want to do a lot of autocross first so I can get seat time before really dropping money on this car. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - 95SVTCobra - 10-19-2015 Registered for both sessions on the 15th, can't wait to see everyone there! It'll be fine. Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - Kaan - 10-22-2015 yeah i know, i'm making excuses normally i give the integra a weekend off on jackstands (i learned that from goodspeed) Re: Refrigerator Bowl Winter Autocross!! - SlimKlim - 11-16-2015 Well, yesterday was stupid fun. ![]() By far the best bang for your buck with an autocross event. I lost count of the # of runs, but we did 8 in the morning and at least 6 in the afternoon. The morning session was on Summit main, we started at about turn 4 and gave it hell until turn 8. I think FTD was around 24s, and it felt like 10 when you were driving it, but it was still fun to try and lay down a flyer on a relatively open section of track in such a short period of time. The afternoon session was much longer and more technical. I think FTD was somewhere in the 42s range. We gridded up on the access road out of the pit area (between 1 and 2) and launched at the bottom of the Cave Esses, used the optional chicanes at the top of the Hammer and the Range Esses at the bottom of the Pistol Grip, then gave it hell through turn 11 and had the stop box set up about a 3rd of the way down the bridge straight. This is the only autocross I've done where you could get into 3rd gear, and I think most people were downshifting going into the Pistol Grip in the afternoon, unlike most events where you just throw it in 2nd and forget about it. It was also really cool to be at Summit when we were the only thing going on that day. We pretty much had the entire park to ourselves. It was great to meet some of the new current students and see some familiar faces, and I spent half the day trailing around after Scott Blair trying to absorb some of his E36 driving prowess by osmosis. My times were shit, but they were consistent, and each one I did was incrementally better than the previous one, so I'm happy with that. The E36 was a fussy little brat all morning, never have I had it be such a prima donna for an event. On my first run I heard a god awful scraping sound and thought I ripped my sideskirt off. Turns out it was just the passenger side brake duct, so not a big deal. Then, shortly after that my outside driver's door handle shuffled off this mortal coil and I had to remember not to roll the window up the rest of the day so I didn't have to crawl through the passenger side. After my 3rd run my steering pump or something started making a faint whining sound after every run, and occasionally under hard braking the brake fluid light would flash, which was confidence inspiring. After the morning session I checked brake and steering fluid levels, both of which were fine, but it sounds like she's due for a little TLC soon. Now to convince Lauren to sign-up to co-drive the VW with me in September. 8) |
