I was a "sort of" member of MM from roughly 2004 to 2007. I always felt like my busy class/studying schedule got in the way of attending regular MM meetings and other events, so many of you probably didn't know me. At the very least, I always tried to attend the spring car show. I definitely regret not participating in more MM events while I was at JMU.....in keeping up with the MM forum, it looks like you guys had some good times.

On to the cars:
first dub was a MKIII GTI VR6. had it from sophomore to first part of senior year.

then did a straight trade for a Corrado, which most of you knew me by that car
(at dryft motorsports back in the day)

when I graduated in 07 and got a job that required a 100 mile commute, I had to get a daily driver:
so to save the poor corrado, I bought a 2008 MKV Rabbit
[Image: CIMG3392.jpg]

awesome reliable, practical car....but damn it was boring to drive. so I sold it (had it less than a year  and had 18K miles on it)
then I bought a MKIV R32!! Went from practical, comfortable, reliable car to the total opposite, but it is the most fun and amazing car EVER. VR6 engine sound + AWD = Big Grin

see you guys at the MM car shows

what do you do with the corrado these days since the r32 fills the "damn, that's fun" pretty well?

<--- runs off to check r32 prices... damn, still $20k?

dude, you need to look on VWvortex.com classifieds R's are going for WAY under $20k now. it's kinda sad how much they've lost their value, but still not bad for a 5 year old car..... you can find some decent ones around $16k give or take. I saw a really nice turbo'ed tornado red R32 for $16K. the guy really needs the money and his car is very legit...if I didn't already have one, I'd buy that in a second.

I still daily the corrado here and there. I'm a firm believer that the car is more reliable when it is driven often instead of it sitting as a garage queen. I actually moved closer to my job and I don't have such an insane commute anymore, so I feel more comfortable driving the corrado to work sometimes. I try to share time between both cars. It's funny; both cars are SOO different to drive and both are fun/exciting to drive in their own way. The corrado is like a go cart, nimble, and get to feel the boost (g60 supercharger) whereas the R has such an intoxicating exhaust note, never has traction issues, and is just a straight BEAST (torque and sound wise).

yes, the R is lowered on koni coilovers Big Grin and yes, I've most definitely done the flapper; that's a must for an R

that would have been sweet. you could have taken the R32 engine and drive train from an audi TT. the biggest problem is the engine mounting since the audi TT/VW R32 is mounted differently than the audis.

yeah, I exaggerated a little. lets put it this way....the R32 is less practical than the MKV rabbit, which is like the toyota corolla of VWs, but yeah, it is still practical. the R is actually very comfortable, has decent gas mileage for a large engine, and is reliable. it's like the most practical "sports car" you can have. fast, maneuverable, but can still haul an out door patio set.

forget the VR6, you should trade your current b5 passat for the one with the W8 engine and 4 motion AWD!!
