man, I have been totally slacking in my craigslist stalking.....but that bike brought up a question - anyone know why all the 70's Honda's had greenfaced gauges, I figured mine did because it was green, but every bike I've seen has them. just seems kinda random

You want to know why? Because compared to it's competition, that bike SUCKS. It's expensive, it's heavy, it's carb'd, and they didn't market them at all. Compare it (new) to an FZ6 or SV650 or hell even a Bandit 600 and the Hornet blows. Great bike to ride, probably, but Honda didn't even bother to look at it's competition, and then when it failed they said "oh, it's because america doesn't like naked bikes."

Right. Sure. Honda, :finger:

CB-1's are neat! They probably would have been a lot more popular had they not been more expensive than a CBR600. A bike before it's time, and too expensive. (Isn't that Honda's MO?)

hmmmmm so I might go look at this today/tomorrow

after poking around the interwebs for a bit I agree, they do seem "neat" I'm just trying to figure out if its $1800 worth of neat-ness. I'm not entirely sure if a "rare" 20 year old bike is something I need to be adding to my stable.

anyone have any thoughts?

If anyone is remotely interested, I was in the guitar store today in Martinsburg, and they had 3 Honda 400 automatics from 1981 in there. Two of them had less than 100 miles, and one had been ridden. Guy wanted 9500 for all three. I took a couple crappy cell phone pics.
