Today was the final autocross at FedEx Field for the season. I was home this weekend for work, and decided to hit up the AutoX while I was up that way. Aannnnddd, I invited my parents
They brought Mom's Crossfire and I did my best to talk them through the process of driving one of these courses. Turns out, the course we ran today was one that was used at the National Championships, just transplanted to FedEx. Not gonna lie, it was tough. Lots of people going off-course today.
Big thanks to Mr. Peter Tyson for giving the parentals a ride-along and sufficiently scaring them shitless before their first run
Dad did pretty well for it being his first time - bottom of the pack time-wise but he improved by about 10 seconds over the 4 runs. Mom surprised me though... first three runs were DNF because of missing gates (partially the hard course for a beginner, plus her inexperience) with long times, but the last run was clear - no gates missed, no cones downed - and improved by 27 seconds compared to run #1. She was pumped after that last run... and I'm glad that she improved that much.
Needless to say, they'll both be back once the season starts up again. Just thought I'd share...
