Tire Rack ownz
#1
Well, I finally bought a new set of tires, for the racecar - I dont remember the last time I bought new tires, so it could have been last week but it was more likely about 5 years ago.

Tires ordered at 10am, they were heat cycled and shipped out by 5pm, and I'll probably have them in 2 days. These guys really kick ass

if they carried more brands of tires, they would possibly be the perfect tire retailer.
but since they dont, i rarely buy anything from them.
got a set of wheels a couple months ago but thats it

i love me some Tirerack. I think I've spent a bit over 2 grand there in the past year. SE-R wheels and tires, tires for the supra, tires for the 240. I wonder if we could get a discount system for MM members?

We've talked about setting up an affliate link. It wouldn't discount the prices, but MM would get a cut of everything.

Tirerack does me zero good since I still have to get my tires mounted and every place around here will match their prices. Confusedhrug:

He could've driven down here, had his tires mounted, eaten lunch, and driven back to NoVA for half that.

Where'd you go, Feersty? Tiresplus is a pretty big chain and they do mount/balance for 18 bucks. Who the hell mounts/balance for 30+ a tire?

Believe it or not, a lot of places charge exorbinant fees for "oversized" wheels...

It's not like Feersty had some dubs for his Escalade. When I had 17's, I shopped around. Most big ass chains like NTB don't charge for 17's, why would you go out of your way to find a place that does.

i think he probably paid more b/c they have issues with low-profile tires. i think they're 17" tires with an aspect ratio of 45 or 40. I know some places won't even do some dimensions. I agree that they shouldn't cost more than $18/wheel

When I goto VIR I stop at a tire shop in Altavista, I pull out my race tires, get new ones mounted AND balanced and the old ones flipped, takes about 20 minutes and I give the guy $5. $130 is just Feersty.
