2012 Aston Martin Vantage.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi0yXeuqBjU

The guy is so douchey and you want him to be wrong, but he just isn't.

Now I know you don't by an Aston Martin for practicality, but I still assumed they were well thought out pieces of machinery.

I didn't think he was that douchey, and he makes damn good points, doesn't seem like they've made any differences whatsoever since they started selling those things way back in 2007ish.

As a new car they are completely outclassed by... everything else, but I can't help but window shop the older ones in no-options, manual coupe trims. Sadly I'm not baller enough for a $40k, out-of-warranty British sports car yet.

He was annoying as fuck and I don't care if he was right or not, imo he went about that review the wrong way entirely. If I owned a car company he would never get my car. He sounded like a spoiled whiney bitch rather than giving a constructional review. I don't like his style.

How exactly would one approach a review of an automatic, convertible posermobile that hasn't been significantly changed since it's initial release almost eight years ago? The name of his channel is "Car Tech," and he works for CNET, he's obviously going to focus more on gadgets, infotainment and safety features than outright driving characteristics. He does complain about the flappy paddle transmission, which ought to make all you militant stick drivers swell with pride.

Lol ooohhh okay okay, yeah I didn't realize that at first. From this perspective it makes alot more sense now. I see his point. I'm with Justin though

Compare it to his F-Type review:

Honestly, I thought he was spot on, and not really douchey at all. The nav sucks. The gearbox sucks. The interior trades functionality for aesthetics. But it sounds great and handles great and looks great and goes moderately fast.

So, uh, it's an Aston Martin, is what he's saying.

I want a British Racing Green 2007 Vantage Coupe 6spd with a tan interior so bad it hurts when I pee sometimes. A no options car would'nt have the shit navigation, and fuck it, you don't need to know how fast you're going in an Aston. It's an Aston.

They're almost cheap enough to be a semi-realistic dream, but then you remember it probably isn't gonna be like fixing a Ford when something breaks. Sigh.

this guy is a fucking moron.

technology is not "central to your product" of an aston-fucking martin.

he misses the point of the car, and thinks the world revolves around his stupid ass tech blog. I love technology more than most, but I give absolutely zero shits if my aston martin has the latest iDouche connected infotainment apps.

It is when you are fucking C|NET. It's a tech blog, for gadget nerds, and the Vantage stinks on ice in that department.

Lol I didn't think this would put such a bee people's bonnets.

I dunno about you guys, but if I want a six figure car that doesn't have shit in the way of technology I'll spend it on a classic that isn't supposed to have anything more than a steering wheel, pedals and a shifter.

If i was forking over $140k for an, again, let me emphasize, a BRAND NEW, 2014, CONVERTIBLE, AUTOMATIC, Aston Martin (not exactly the formula for a hardcore sports car here), then yes, I do care about the gadgets, and you would too. If I happened to be in that market, and I probably never will, the F-type V8 S whips its ass so hard it's not even funny.

Tech is central to C|Nets product, but not Aston Martin's.

Thats like if they reviewed a garage door opener and said it sucks ass because it doesnt have a 10" touchscreen and a LTE connection.

If you cant review a product in its context, then dont review it.
Dont get me wrong, he is right about his gripes with the tech, but he also completely missing the point of the car.

Id also expect that if they are going to review a car, they have some rudimentary knowledge of how product refresh cycles work with low volume sports cars like this. (ie - no shit cap'n, the new jag early in the cycle has better tech than the 7 year old aston late in its cycle)

Would it kill them to install a better navigation screen or updated dual-clutch in a $140k car? Does it really require a full model refresh?

Jus sayin.

At the same time its not like you're gonna be daily driving your 6 figure car into the middle of DC where you don't know, so its not like you need the GPS. Just drive the piss out of it for enjoyment then park it and look at it, that's what you bought it for 8)
