Summit Point • November 2-3 • NASA Fall Finale
#1
Who's in for this? This is NASA's "Fall Finale" at Summit Point. No racing, just HPDE's and Time Trial so more track time for those groups compared to usual events.

Hyperdrives happen on Saturday and for you students who want to get out on track for cheap, find $50 and drive less than an hour to hit up a great track!

I am working (driving pace/announcing) and will be driving in TTD again, with the goal of Less Tire Walls this month.

Paul and I will be going to Piccadilly's in downtown Winchester for dinner on Friday, probably around 7 or so. Anyone interested in joining?

Students -- this is a GREAT time to come out and get some rides!! You can ride in HPDE 3 or HPDE 4, so plenty of cars to hop into.

Also, Sunday around lunchtime will be our annual Lunch Laps for Cale. Cale Kastanek was an instructor/TTer whose life was sadly cut short in 2008 when he and his S2k went off-track and hit a concrete wall that had not yet been buffered with tires. In honor of #57, we do lunch laps every November and raise money for a scholarship in his name. We have raised more money each year, every year I've been a part of NASA, so let's keep it going for 2013! Minimum donation of $20 to do lunch laps on Sunday, and any car with four wheels and seatbelts for occupants is welcome.

With all that said, who's in? Click here for event info page.

ugh, so much want. Hopefully some new replacement parts for the Civic fix the issues I was having at VIR. If not, who is down to lend me a hand to get the Hype-R ready.

Email Jon Felton, but most convertibles do not have proper roll bars from that factory. There are however a few exceptions.

Negative on tracking a Sky, it's not on the list of approved convertibles we get from national. Sorry!

Hyperdrive is full with a closed waiting list. A private group bought a block of spots so unless you're coming through them or at the top of the waiting list, there's not much chance of HD'ing at this event. We are daylight-limited (therefore HD is done in an early HPDE1 session) which means we are instructor-limited (because almost all instructors have HPDE1 students), otherwise we'd take more. Sorry! I recommend signing up for HPDE1 instead, before that fills up too

Relatedly, at two weeks out: Hyperdrive and Kart Enduro are full. HPDE1, HPDE3, and HPDE4 are almost full. So it's almost last call for track time!

Bling -- fixed the hooptie and registered. Won't be able to stick around for Saturday shenanigans, but if anyone wants to split a room for Friday night let me know.

See the two versions of the schedule we've posted at http://www.nasaracing.net/?page_id=2981 . Standard would be 3x32min/day, alternate would be 4x27min/day. We will probably roll with the alternate, I haven't yet seen a good reason not to. Either way at 90sec/lap average, that's a bunch of seat time in a day. Plus we offer the "double down" for those who want twice as much track time for nowhere near twice as much money. Also at this event there are usually fewer cleanups to throw things off due to no racing whatsoever. Knock on wood.

...25-27 minutes is "blink and you're done?" Always seemed long enough to me.

27min with roll on/roll off should be like 14-15 hot laps/session for most of us. Just enough to get into a groove, not enough to really stress the car... in theory.
