Muffler choices

I ordered up a 3 inch VRS piping kit so now I need a resonator and muffler to go with it. I currently have a universal magnaflow that I've been pretty happy with, but I am considering changing it up. I realize thing are going to sound different on different cars depending on alot of things, but I'd like to hear your opinions. I want something that is oval, not round, somewhat stock looking, and quiet (as much as it can be on a three inch exhaust). I'm leaning towards a Remus if I can find a three inch one, or a Stromung.

-Magnaflow part #14249. 3 inch inlet/outlet, 5x8 oval polished stainless steel, 18 inch body, 24 overall.

-Stromung universal: Can't find out anything online, need to call them for specifics. I've heard good things though. http://www.stromung.com/

i have a magnaflow oval... truly awesome. why 3 inches? that's a bit big for your motor.

2.5" will be plenty for your engine.

SMSP uses magnaflow mufflers, so I'd go with that.

And no, not big for my motor. It needs a 3 inch exhaust with the header I'm running and lts of valve overlap.

Had a magnaflow straight through on the WRX and it sounded amazing.

The current "hot" exhaust for SM (where these guys spend days on a dyno designing exhausts for 2 extra hp) uses a magnaflow.

Dynomax outflows Magnaflow AND flowmaster..but people never seem to thinkof them for some reason. Anyhow, i have2.5" on my car, with 114* duration. 1 5/8" headers, which is a ton of overlap, and thats plenty big

in my experience with Flowmaster 40 (current) and Dynomax mufflers, Flowmaster has better top end performance. i've gone between the two a few times and always "feel" better overall performance with the Flowmaster 40. only drawback, it's louder. i've been wanting to go to something else myself, but i'm afraid to loose too much. i actually had a N1 style canister on the truck at one also Smile

it was under the bed, so you couldn't see it, but it sounded nice and performed almost identical to the Flowmaster with less noise.

i've seen lots of people with Magnaflow, must be for a good reason. my vote Smile

Just FYI< that is Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 series, and the chart and the quote are from 2 different tests

it is a straight through muffler, there is 0 restriction, well almost. I have 2 on my car, only downside, they are loud as fuck

I couldnt find the magnaflow data, but thats what ive been told, also, my statement encompassed Flowmaster as well, so I posted what I found. And, they are ALMOST a straight through design, in that they have a glass-pack sort of thing, but its not really fiberglass..some other thing.

that muffler is NOT a glasspack, they sound like shit. FWIW, the dynomax is cheap as shit as too :lol:
