Update on previous posts, still have not upgraded graphics card. I'm not sure why I haven't pulled the trigger but I have no idea where I want to land between where I'm at now and a card that can run modern stuff on Ultra. How do I decide what is enough???

NVM, ordered an RX580 from NewEgg. I think that's a decent upgrade over a gtx750ti at least to run emulators and some games on high.
Next bottleneck seems to be the CPU, but boy these are pricey. Any suggestions for a cheap upgrade over an AMD fx8350?

I hadn't thought about the storage. I have seen the utilization max on my current metal spinnybois.

Welp, I bit the bullet and ordered a Ryzen 3600 which I plan to overclock immediately. (Case has excellent cooling with 6 fans (10 if you count Mobo, CPU, and GPU fans)). Picked up an X570 Board with built in wifi, 16gb of DDR4 and I got a small SSD hooked up now, which I'll probably make my boot drive with the new setup.
I've gotten some really insane overclocking numbers out of my Rx580 so far. Overclocked to 1600mhz stable with temps still in the 50-60c range. Stock is 1340mhz. I'll stick with that for a while and upgrade later.
Hoping to sell my old stuff and recoupe at least half of what I spent since I think there may still be a market for some of it.

Pulled the trigger on some baller storage as well. Can't get any more "cutting edge" than PCI 4.0 storage https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TLY...UTF8&psc=1
8 GB/s here I come.
My buddy's son (13,maybe 14 soon) has been saving his odd jobs money all summer and wants to build his first gaming rig. He's only has about $500, I think I have a monitor and some other accessories for him, but wanted to see if anyone is upgrading and want to sell some parts off?
Also, if you're bored, help me spec him something in budget on partspicker.?

Done. (Parts list is in the description). If that doesn't work out, I can pick some stuff out tomorrow.

Try as I might, it's really hard to make some capable OTHER than that setup from LTT for undeer $500.
Cheapest mid tower case you can find, don't cheap out on the PSU, AMD 3100 CPU is about as weak as I'd want to go for gaming PC, AMD RX580 is probably as low on the graphics card as I'd want to go to run anything AAA on medium, 2x 4GB DDR4 3200 for RAM, 1TB HDD or something. Motherboard will have to be a b450 but that means you'll have to change that for the next gen AMD CPUs.
No idea on Intel stuff, but it's unlikely you could build something decent for $500
I took a crack at this for fun

Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

I would personally pony up a bit more $$$ on the graphics card - 1050TI is pretty weak.

Its a bad time to build a pc right now. Last year I picked up a previous gen Ryzen 5 and a motherboard for $100 combined. This year most of the component prices are holding high prices due to the covid gaming boom.
Personally, Id wait for another deal like this https://slickdeals.net/f/14106770-acer-n...BarV2Algo1

I wanted to know if anyone knew if Razer products were truly used for spying / keylogging?
My parents are FREAKING out because I bought myself a sexy Razer Huntsman thru Amazon (thankfully) and they found out that Razer's TOS is really quite sketchy ('thankfully' because Razer.com had around 100k account info leaked through their store).
The parts of the TOS that are in the spot light is them mentioning that Synapse 2 has a allows for information to be used by the company whenever. I personally know that I do not need the Synapse app to use the keyboard (just no changing key colors and such), but of course once my parents see anything bad related to something, then it becomes the work of the devil.

Have there been actual reports of this? A lot of times, companies make their TOS broad to cover their own asses.

Yeah their TOS are like mad sketchy. They say that they will give your info to websites pretty much. Now this is only when you use the app you must download and create an account with to access all the customizable RGB stuff (Synapse 2.0).
Here are some reports and other news.

I use Razer and so far no Chinese foreign agents have arrived at my door.
Also RIP to anyone key logging my google searches. Honestly, I may take down the entire nation myself.

Lmao. My dad doesn't understand that I can use the keyboard without Synapse (the actual problem), but he will not listen to me. I like the keyboard because my current board is the super generic Dell keyboard circa 2013.
Edit: I want to mention that I will be using the keyboard after I get a real PC (Christmas + birthday parts / money)

I didn't read previous posts, but the best computer run for both gaming, networking and coding work is the raspberry pi 4 with 8gb of ram. Place some heat sinks and get a case with a fan and you're golden for less than $100. On the side, when not working on the BMW, I am developing a retro-gaming system 1TB iso image (essentially encompasses nearly all PS2 games and older games from any system, I may try and get some smaller PS3 games on it, but graphics are not that great on the pi 4) for it. I have most of the games working (I think the count is over 30,000), I just need to find music, title animations and title cards. I hope to have it complete by the end of the year

That's a pretty cool project. I always wanted to do a dedicate emulator or drop a Pi 4 into an SNES shell or something to get the aesthetic and the massive library. Let me know how PS3 emulation works, I hear it's a pain
