So,
I bought a BRZ.
It looks like this:
Team Red (before I washed it)
Tight fit in the garage (and thanks to Jose for the help bleeding brakes)
Did the previous owner include wheel lock key? No, no she didn't.
Thankfully, she found them literally minutes before I was about to start hammering sockets on them.
Done so far, no pictures because who cares:
Fluids:
Oil: M1 5w30
Trans: Redline MT90
Diff: Redline 75w90
Brake fluid: ATE Type 200 (wtf happened to Super Blue?!!!!)
Got a killer deal on used camber plates so on they go
Swapped rear springs for 2013 FR-S Springs. The 2013 FR-S had the stiffest rear springs from the factory, and the 2017+ cars had the stiffest front springs (and biggest rear bar) so I now have the stiffest setup with factory parts. No pictures because I was busy trying to not be killed by rental spring compressors.
new rear lower control arms. There is an eccentric bolt by the hub that you turn to set camber
RIGHT after I installed those I found a crazy deal on some Blox lower control arms, that do not use an eccentric, and allow for much more range of adjustability. Oh, and they are gold. They will go on at some point in the future.
New brake pads. Im not even kidding. They had me at "official brakes of NASCAR"
After bedding them in, they are VERY good street pads. Again, not kidding.
New reeyumz! Konig 17x8 flow formed wheels....... that dont fit over the bremboz back they go
I think that about covers it for now. Ill write some thoughts and impressions on the car later. Maybe.
just get it over with and drop it off at Ptuning and tell them to add all the powers.

After so many years in Miatas this thing feels like a rocketship!
I did think about a Corvette though.....
Looks great! That sucks about the wheels though...
I mean...ok.
Are you gonna sell the Lotus or just have like, two pretty impractical cars or wot?

A BRZ is super practical. That hatch space is very large for what it is.

Super practical...lol
Have you ever tried to get anyone with legs in the backseat? Hatch space isn't the only thing.

Just wait until I get an ND Miata too
*DINGDONG* UPS GUY IS HERE
Another spin on the "Does it fit over Brembos" lottery
I like it.
And the backseat isn't that bad, I remember checking one out years ago, I could sit (for a short drive) behind the driver's seat once I had it adjusted to me.
Take that Lotus over to Maaco and make it match the family for like 500 bucks

2 bleeders per caliper! These brembos may be more trouble than they are worth
you could call up MachV and they would have the wheels that clear your calipers

I love this. That duo is excellent - is the BRZ gonna be a fun DD? Also I'm guessing that color is pretty rare since Subie doesn't (didn't?) really do red.
I want to hump your Exige.

Pretty sure these Mach V wheels fit over Brembos.

Also Apex has a group buy on BRZ fitment wheels right now.

you've been hinting at this for a while but i didn't think you'd really do it...awesome! love these in red and hardly ever see them that color. nice choices on some of the mods, i've heard that suspension setup is pretty ideal on the street.
i still really want one and think they'd make incredible stock RWD class rallycross cars. plz report back with how well you can shove children behind the front seats

Really like those Apex wheels, reminds me of TSW Nürburgring.
17x9 opens up a ton of options, the problem is that they rub on stock suspension, so you have to go to coilovers, which is a rabbit hole Im not ready to go down just yet.
My problem is Im being fairly specific on the wheels I want. 17x8, the right offset, reasonably lightweight, and not too expensive.
RRautox has BRZ/FRS autox parts up for sale. go down the rabbit hole!

ARC 8s look nice on the BRZ. The Awesome Wheel looks so cheap IMO. Would not buy.

I've always loved this car since it was teased by Toyota 11 years ago and I've had it in the back of my head when the right time to buy one would be.
I started poking around last year when I got the itch to do track days again, and my original plan was to get a cheap, salvage, body damage or otherwise beat to crap FR-S (Actually my FIRST plan was Exocet), then RallyCross it and do track days.
That slippery slope turned into a 2017 BRZ Limited with Performance Package when I found a great deal on this car. 2017 brought some really nice improvements and tweaks, and the PP is an incredible deal for what you are getting (though as mentioned, the brakes are causing some headaches)
It was meant to be a drive-it-to-the-track track car, but in a way its too nice to just track. I love driving it around town and my kids love riding in it, so I may (or may not) delay the rollbar and race seats for a little while.
For now it will get basic track prep and stay mostly stock. So far the mods have been focused on getting some negative camber so as not to chew up tires. Ill do a few track days and re-evaluate what it needs to be a good track car.
As it sits it just needs an alignment to be track ready and I should have it on track in August.
I love the red on these cars, which you are correct is pretty rare for the BRZ (lots of red FR-S though). While I love World Rally Blue, I think it looks a lot better on an Impreza than a BRZ.
