Ceiling aint bad if you got a buddy. Also buy one of those drywall jacks and youre all set. Good luck finding a drywall guy to come in and "just do the ceiling" for reasonable money

Well, we did the ceiling. We had 3 guys so it wasn't awful. The hardest part was cutting out the lights.

I have a drywall guy coming today just for the finish work so I don't think it would be difficult to find someone to do a ceiling and finish it? 

Anyway last night I finished the drywall around the closests. Only thing left is the window surrounds and I think I am just going to tell this guy to go ahead and complete that, corner bead, and all the finishing. I was working pretty quickly last night so didn't take many pictures. Here are the closests. We had to build the bulkhead because a steel support beam runs behind it. We had to stud around the beam and then drop in under the beam for the closest door frames. Wasn't that difficult, just took some extra math. Not sure how a professional would have done this. The problem is all the way to the right is the door that enters the room and there is not enough room for a 2x4 to run all the way to the wall because of the door frame. That's why there is a the notch at the right of the header.

Wow this project took longer than I planned. But don't all home projects? Thought we could get this done in a month. Then a last minute sales meeting across the country happened and life got in the way.

Carpet is in, paint on the walls, closet doors were hung. I left my wife in charge of the budget and she says we're slightly over but with margin. She's happy so I'm happy. Pictures in the next day or so.

Same here. Although college afforded me the critical thinking skills necessary to realize the amount of money saved on labor by tackling most of this myself. 

That being said, this is the last major home project I do for a long time.

I'm renovating the kitchen in the house we moved into and I'm really happy to be outsourcing the design & labor.

Do not take on a project in a room you need done ASAP by yourself. If this reno had been a kitchen, bathroom, our master bedroom I would have 100% paid someone to get it done on time. I'm sure you know this already though.

Congrats on getting it done.  Embrace it and pat yourself on the back.

There is also something to be said about enjoying and completing a project yourself.  For some it is worth it; others obviously not so. 

 I really enjoy projects and building something with my hands. I sit on my ass and work financials and sit on meetings after meetings after meetings/prep for meetings.  I really enjoy working outside and creating something more than playing video games, netflix or pretending to be hipster. I went to college so I have the CHOICE of what I want to do.

That being said, this is the last major home project I do for a long time.

It's always a math exercise for me. I divide the estimated savings by the amount of time I believe it will take me. If it's lower than my hourly salary, I pay someone. Else, it's actually costing me money/time to do it myself. I can always make more money. I can't buy more time.

we have "bath fitter" junk in there... we want to convert to a walk in shower setup and I'm "afraid" of causing leaks into the living room and having to redo the entire ceiling (stupid drywall mud artworks ceilings in the entire house)

My Dad did our bathroom when we lived in Manassas, and he re did both the bathrooms at his house.  So if you want some proper help, IE a dude who knows his shit, just give him a yell.

We ordered a king bed on black Friday which arrived today. That meant last night I had to breakdown our queen from upstairs. My brother came over and helped me move the mattress and headboard to the new guest room in the basement. Going to be putting our full bed from the upstairs guestroom up for sale in the next month or so as that room is changing duties coming up in 2019...
