So.
Jack Ryan. As a guy who both "does SQL" and "shoots guns", this show did both of those things pretty bad. Not the worst I've ever seen, but sometimes the absurd gunplay would just take me right out of immersion, and any time they touched a computer I wanted to Ace Ventura talk out my ass at the screen, since that's what they were doing.
I also assume that the drone guy would be brought up on charges so fast his head would spin, but they were just like "meh, shit happens, back in the chair homie!"
I hope they improve that garbage for the second season. It's not hard. Semi-auto pistols don't go "click" when they're empty. No tactical team on earth would run rifles that take the same caliber but different mags. A white guy who doesn't speak the local language with a black duffel bag full of cash doesn't last 10 minutes in Idlib or where-the-fuck-ever they were dropping bombs. I get that it's fiction but it's set in the real world y'all.

lol that guy. completely forgot. yeah, you get Confused American showing up in your dirt village with a big duffel looking totally doe-eyed, and everyone just ignores you? then he just drops it off and goes back? that whole arc was so unreal i thought i was just being bamboozled and they were going to tie his inevitable rescue or maybe a guilt suicide into the final episodes somehow.
looking back i just really got tired of the whole "wow Jack you sure are a mysterious, wolf in sheeps clothing guy!" like nobody can believe a ripped desk jockey at the CIA might have a military past. it was appropriate in the beginning, especially to set up his character and make his later immersion in the mission more logical, but after a while i was just like, i geeeetttt iiiittttt
anybody else find it slightly unlikely that Rapey McJihad straight up survived a drone strike?

I liked it.
Drone guy story was retarded. Complete waste of what could have totalled up to probably half an episode.
They also missed the Easter Egg opportunity to just have Dwight somewhere in the background typing away and then stare directly into the camera.

Thirded. I don't see the point in that storyline either unless they plan to radicalize him in a coming season, or have him captured as he's trying to leave Dirt City, or whatever

I watched the entire season on my way to and from Phoenix. 6/10. Entertaining fight scenes and a decent storyline, but it's already getting kind of tired.
I did a triple take when I saw this guy back in the show and was honestly confused for a second. Completely absurd to have him survive that drone strike.

Although it probably would have started a fire fight that killed everyone in the scene, it was pretty satisfying when dude made a deal with him then shot him in the head.

True Detective season 3 seems to be off to a pretty good start. I fee like, after 2 episodes, it will definantely be better than season 2, but will have a hard time beating season 1. I think something terrible happened to Hays between the 1990 interview and the 2015 interviews, and I think Roland West probably had something to do with whatever that after effect was. I’m excited to see where this series goes.

I only watched the 1st episode last night, but like you, I agree it will eclipse season 2. It felt a lot more like season 1, but I am still not convinced anybody can beat the McConaughey/Harrelson combo. Ali was originally cast for the supporting actor role, but refused to read for that role. He was adament that he would be the lead actor and convinced Pizzolato so.

can't wait to see this. i've resigned myself to the fact that probably no season of TD will match the first, that was lightning in a bottle. i'll have my Big Hug Mug sitting here keeping me caffeinated in the meantime.
i'm getting caught up on the second part of Season 5 of Vikings. Still interesting but i just haven't got that same compelling character arc out of anyone after Ragnar. feels like alot of sitting around waiting for the next back stab.

Anyone watching Goliath? I'm a sucker for any kind of self imploding Billy Bob Thornton character. Season one was pretty good. I need to start season two.

I couldn't do it. I finally quit. Everyone sucks except for lagertha who seems to have just kind of resigned herself to being a fringe character I dunno who cares and that's when i stopped.
TD: Season1 was exceptional, but I'm one of the few who enjoyed Season 2. Season 3 is proving to be slow, but compelling, and the sound design and plot device are both very engaging if you ask me.

We watched a half season of Vikings after Ragnar and then gave up.
I get what I want from Lagertha by following the actress on IG.
