I don't know that I've ever had a car where the TOB was particularly noisy when cold.
The pedal itself on my subaru sometimes squeaks when it's hot out though.

Yeah, most of my cars (Except Miatas, which are supposed to be noisy but I've never heard one) have been noisy, but this cars entire transmission has so many squeaks/clunks/vibration, it's really surprising from a new car.
My advice from owning the Rabbit; it’s gonna squeak and rattle after 500 miles. Turn up the radio.
My rabbit had an epically annoying rattle from the front seatbelt tensioner right in my ear. VW life.

This is probably the reason why I am going to have a hard time with a new car (never bought one). I don't mind a couple niggly issues on a used car with 100k miles. If I just bought a brand new car and going to EAT depreciation to be new; I would murder someone if there were any squeaks/rattles/annoyances.

I feel like you run into some stuff in almost any car nowadays. My GMC has a slight rattle also probably from the tensioner in my ear. I'm kind of afraid they will just make it worse if they pull it all apart, but I may have them look at it anyway before my bumper to bumper is up

Well, I guess that relieves a little stress. I mean, this is a LOT of car for the money and the build quality is there for 99% of it, so I can understand if it's not perfect.
I'm just echoing DJ's thoughts. This thing is a shiny gold throne compared to the other shit I've owned.

We had a lot of suspension popping / groaning if you remember with our '17 CX5. It's apparently been an issue with those forever, but since they tweaked the '17 so much the service writers were surprised it was happening. They fixed it by basically giving us an entirely new suspension...lol

26k and not a sound in our 16 CX5, our only issue has been the led accent light going out in the driver headlight.
Warranty replaced.
Polen had a ton of electrical problems with their CX5 right? Something with the head unit?

Yes. Turned out to be a crimped wire in the main harness. Only took them 38 separate trips (slightly exaggerated but not really) to diagnose. Then when they fixed it the volume would go up on its own and the rain sensing wipers stopped working. No weird noises or squeaks though.

my 2.5RS had a crazy TOB whine when it was really cold for the first few miles, but generally that car made so many noises when it got that cold that the TOB was the least of my bothers. and that was at 135k miles on the stock clutch so it got a pass.
my Si currently has a clutch "pop" that is due to a crappy clutch pedal design. it comes and goes. i've been told that lithium grease on the joints and clutch master cylinder shaft will fix it, but i am le tired so i just turn up the vtacs.
these GTI's are popular cars so i'm sure someone will figure out some degree of a fix. every car has its faults sooner or later. if you're having a lot of fun with it, you're already ahead of the game.

My steering wheel has a slight squeak when returning to center from near full lock. Also, the steering wheel cover is bunching a bit at the 10 o'clock position. Normal people would never notice it, but I do. That said, I've decided to keep living my life and not worry about it... which is a change for me.

I actually forgot about it when I took my car to the dealer for the 1 year a few weeks ago. I haven't even bothered to confirm the paint code to get my touch up paint and I saw that damage a week ago. Weed helps.
