My nexus got real picky about charging on the micro usb but i could use a toothpick and gently bend the connector back up to make contact again and that bough me a few more months.
Guess years of the cord pulling down on it over the edge of a table/desk bends the connector just enough.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Nice! Definitely curious to see! That's the exact modem I had as well and it was awesome. If for some reason they don't work out, you could easily sell the router and make your money back ha
So I hooked the new router and cable modem up yesterday. The wifi coverage is way way better with the new one. Not only does it cover my deck and whole yard, it stretches most of the way down the street to the nearest stop sign.
That and my download speeds are nearly as fast on wireless as they are wired in now. It's at 105mbps wireless vs 120mbps wired in. Definitely worth the 90 dollars that I'll make back in savings on my Comcast bill anyway.

Yes! Good to see I didn't lead you astray nor exaggerated. I was being a cheapskate for years, buying up low-mid grade routers and going through them every year or two. Should have just gone to the top of the pile in the first place!

New job gave me a 15" MacBook Pro. It's pimpy, and my "big external monitor" at home has a lower resolution than the laptop screen.
I don't hate the Touch Bar as much as I thought, it's neat to have contextual items that change based on the app you're using. Keyboard is kind of meh, not much key travel. Apple still has the best trackpads in the biz.

The sound bar you (I think) suggested, is absolutely fantastic. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SMB...UTF8&psc=1
I got a big Amazon Gift card from work because I've been a good boy and decided to treat our apartment to something better than the speakers on the TV. Zach and I are pretty decent audiophiles and have all kind of musical gadgets, yet we had no sound bar. Home Audio hasn't ever really been my thing, but this thing blows me away. The way it emulates true surround sound is phenomenal and I didn't even realize it until today. I'm Working from home and playing music on it at a normal volume. I kept pausing the music because I was hearing weird noises like someone knocking on the door or someone talking/making noises from outside. It wasn't until a little later that it was actually small sounds in the backing tracks to these songs that I've 1) Never even heard before and 2) were being projected around the apartment so well that I didn't even realize they were coming from the sound bar behind me.
I am so absolutely pleased with this.
A bunch of us have some version of the Vizio Soundbar. I have the 5.1 that has the skinny sub that'll sit under the couch and has Chromecast built in.
Regardless, yes, the Vizio Soundbar are best bang for buck out there. No point in going to Sony/Samsung/Bose. It is only outmatched by true big speakers with a receiver, IMO.
I have the 5.1 with a decent size subwoofer next to the couch. It's a fantastic system for the price.

Looks like the audio chip on my Pixel died today. No speakers/microphones work anymore. Opening the phone app usually ends up crashing the phone and it gets stuck rebooting.
Some quick googling tells me it's a known problem with the audio processing chip developing a crack in the solder. I've got phone insurance so verizon will replace it regardless.

^^Well that's cool.
Also Verizon looked at the phone and said "yeah it's definitely not supposed to do that". They're sending me a new one free of charge today. Interestingly nothing on the phone that even uses the audio functions will work. You'd think that it would record video, just with no sound. Nope. Even snapchat won't let me record video.
Still thinking I'm switching back to iPhone at the end of this year. I get the point of android phones if you're doing power user type stuff, but if you're just using it as a normal phone and the price isn't an issue, iPhones are just better. I'll probably keep this one around though for weird apps that aren't available on iOS.
