I bought a watch on our honeymoon and now we are away again to celebrate our 15th and wife wants me to get another. I am torn.
For how often I wear a watch I prefer to spend less and they have this titanium citizen that I really like. Less than $300. I don't know anything about it really, think it's an eco-drive. Goes well with wedding band, very light and wearable for the occasional wearer.
However, they also have the Tag Senna edition which I don't think is rare or anything but it represents other interests and since my son also loves Senna since watching the documentary would be kind of heirloom type purchase. But $1000.
Decisions....
Any reason to stay away from the Citizen? I guess I need to make sure it's not a $150 watch anywhere else...

That looks beautiful man! I have owned two titanium Citizen EcoDrives myself and they were both great watches. No reasons I can think of not to scoop one. What is the model number? I don't see anything like it on Jomashop. You might find it for cheaper elsewhere but if you are in the islands or something duty free/tax free it will probably be similarly priced as online.
Also can't go wrong with TAG although the TAG will probably require more maintenance (EcoDrives pretty much never need to be serviced). Both will keep great time and be very meaningful since you're buying it on an anniversary trip! If it makes your decision easier, I bought an EcoDrive and wore it on my wedding day and every anniversary:

I'd really like one, and even put one on, but I couldn't justify the cost given there are other things I'd like to buy... including a Navitimer.

Chris have you tried on a Rolex? You have mega bougie tastes like me and prefer the best things. If you haven't you definitely should, I would be curious to hear your thoughts on one. There are tons of different styles so you could probably find one you liked.
Rolex is the king of luxury watches, without a doubt. Omega had a full on boutique set up in the merch tent at the PGA Championship this weekend. Their sales reps were really, really good...they were true watch nerds and recognized my Dagaz Aurora but had never seen one of Jake's watches in person. One of them asked me if he could check it out and snapped a few pics. I tried on a few of their pieces...I told them my slush fund was designated for a GMT Master II and they brought over their newest black/white bezel GMT model. It was nice but not $8k nice. I also tried on the green seconds hand / black+green NATO Aqua Terra (the one Sergio is wearing in the newest Omega commercial) but that was not $7k nice. Every Rolex I've handled are the only watches that feel like they are deserving of such a high price tag.

I told my wife I would probably buy myself a Rolex when I retire, but there's not much out there right now that I would pay Rolex money for. As in, the ones I'd be looking at are the Daytona or the Yacht-Master II. I also told her I was buying myself a Navitimer if/when I got promoted, because it's been a really long haul.
Any watch purchase other than those two are going to be way more impulse than anything and probably not mean a whole lot. That's why I liked the Undone kickstarter... my designs lacked creativity, but I got two custom pieces that mean something to me for $175 each.

Ok so Citizen would have been a less than truly meaningful purchase.
So decision moved to Senna and another watch from the Formula 1 series that has the blue face I love.
The Senna watch they have in stock at this store does not have the three sub-dials which is pretty much a must for me in this style. They have one at their airport store so it's tough not seeing the two I'm deciding between together.
I really prefer the blue face with orange accents but prefer the Senna band and "connection".
Here is the blue face F1 I'm looking at:

Do you have a pic of the Senna you're looking at? That Formula is really nice, would love to see them side by side

I say Senna. I assume you are going Formula 1 not Carrera?
I am partial to the black faced, but you cant go wrong with the grey face either.
This Black/Red one is tits IMO.
I change my answer in light of this new information. Tag F1 all the way. I think everyone needs a "standard" in the brand before they start going more exotic (i.e. Senna).

Pass on the top one.
That bottom one is the one I tried on - it's a really nice watch. I couldn't justify it given I have a Tag Carrera, but I wouldn't hold it against you if you bought it.

I don't necessarily disagree but in this case the Senna doesn't seem to really be more exotic. It's really just a more specific connection and price wise is within $100.

I like that black senna chronograph you are leaning toward. I also just saw these come up in my news feed from the TAG page. Similar to what Justin posted, these apparently just dropped:

Blue faced Tag is really nice looking. The Senna example Justin posted is the tits. Although I would have to change the band. Not feeling that reb/black rubber. Like you said, the Senna without the sub-dials is pretty boring and looks like it is "missing" something.
