Well it's $500 so I can't really pass it up if it runs. So my question is what are the suggestions for what to do. Junkyard turbo? Rally cross car? Drift Mobile? Send them my way!

Make it run well and drive it. Fix what's broken and fix what will break when you have it.
You should really get the car in your hands and give it a look over, drive it for a bit, then decide on what you want to do. I would say NO on the junkyard turbo. That's a headache you don't want. For $500, there's going to be a lot that needs some TLC before it's ready to do much of anything.
Turn it into a limo
Real advice? Don't buy it.

I can think of way better ways of spending $500....which to be more realistic is closer to like $1500, assuming it only takes $1k to get a $500, 34 yr old, BMW to function like a car.

Nothing, unless it's a 2006 Ford Taurus.

Definitely, but if not, it's super fast and cheap to have new-old-stock parts shipped from some dusty old crevice of a warehouse in Germany!

I'd buy it. I don't think it gets better for $500 considering I've driven out an entire tank in a weekend galavanting all over nova and DC. ![[Image: c71bf4a79e25abcf0108388f297bed05.jpg]](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170403/c71bf4a79e25abcf0108388f297bed05.jpg) ![[Image: 9b4fe7239ef30474e718b923e5fa28a0.jpg]](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170403/9b4fe7239ef30474e718b923e5fa28a0.jpg)

Happy to help, buddy! I've turned a massive profit on every car I've owned to date so your money is in great hands with me.

...why? For $500 go find an old hondur or if you're obsessed with BMW's an E30 (I bought two, one at $500, made money on both but was a headache still and neither ever ran right).

Not gonna lie, always had a soft spot for the "big sixes", but even I, who once pushed an E30 from between two trees that had grown on either side, wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole. Flip now, thank me later.

I've been itching for a project of some sorts and haven't found any other running car for $500 that's comparable. You all say get a different car for the same money but where are the links? I looked and found none.

There's a reason running, driving cars that won't be a pain in the ass for $500 are few and far between. All of the stories you hear of people finding them are the 1 in a million chance you come across an old lady with a great deal. Also, cash for clunkers really killed the whole "old cheap car" scene around 2009. If you notice a common theme, a lot of these people getting these deals did around that time or before. There are exceptions, however, but don't expect to be one of them.
The hate is strong with this one

You're not going to find solid cars for $500 just sitting on CL. That stuff tends to be found word-of-mouth or by managing to talk the little old lady that lives a street over out of a car she wasn't really planning on selling.
