Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste
Those Amazon Milanese Loop bands are pretty legit. Got one for Casey last year for her apple watch and it is still holding strong.

Looks great! Are you planning on wearing it to bed too? That would be my big thing, I usually take my watches off if I am doing anything that could damage them cosmetically or when I sleep. That, to me, seemed like the allure of the small fitbits with the small rubber bracelets...if you had to wear it all the time it would be unobtrusive.

As you know Chris, you don't want gaps in your data! Just a thought

My wife has a clip on kind that she's worn to bed a few times and the data on her restlessness (if you believe it) was pretty shocking. I generally sleep pretty terribly, in part because of my back issues, so I'll probably wear it for a week in the near future to collect data. I don't like the idea of having to switch bands, but I don't think I'd want to wear this band to bed. I'll probably swap back to the OEM band for bed during the week, just to see how it all plays out. The good news is they literally snap on, so no tools are required. If I get into it, I might pick up a silicone band that doesn't have a metal clasp for sleeping. I'll make a call on how/when I wear it after seeing what it tells me.

I just spent 45 minutes messing around and I'm no closer to deciding on a design. The good news is you can save your designs... the bad news is I'm probably gonna save like 20 and it'll take me a week to pick one.

I played around with the "Aqua" diver variant and I am actually not super impressed with the options and overall price point (of that model anyway). You're pretty limited in case colors (I also couldn't figure out how to do just standard stainless?) and the Seiko NH35 ain't a bad movement, it's in my recent Deep Blue diver, but it's not Swiss and therefore doesn't command that $600+ premium I spec'd one out to. That's not really Undone's fault, Swatch Group has severely restricted the Swiss ETA movements they have sold outside of their organization and microbrands have had to look to the Japs to supply their movements. It looks like at least they are including sapphire crystals on the top and caseback for the Aqua.

Urban model definitely seems like a better route here based on the price point and the fact that it's a customized piece... Resale obviously won't be strong on these. $500-600 though for the Aqua variant buys you a LOT of REALLY good well known & desirable Swiss and Japanese divers (Certina, Seiko Prospex, Tissot, Deep Blue, lightly used gets you TAG, Oris, Squale, Fortis, etc.)

I personally think the Aqua is ugly and I'm not a fan of dive watches in general.

It sounds like we buy watches very differently as I haven't or ever will consider resale value. I liked the idea of the Urban because it looked nice and I could get a truly one-of-a-kind design (or close to it) to commemorate current events in my life. That said, I think $295 is about the max price point they should be charging. Good thing I paid $175 and a Kickstarter backer. Big Grin

Agreed on both the max price point and on the price you paid, you can't go wrong there. I agree that the Aqua is ugly but divers are one of my things, I like and own all different types of watches but I got bit by the diver style a long time ago 8)

I think I have Joey coming around to them too, he started preemptively shopping for a commemorative diver for his honeymoon

Yeah but I still don't go in for all the wacky variations of them, I'm not a fan of that Undone one and I hate the Seiko Monsters and stuff.

An Orient Ray II for swimming/beaching is about all the diver I'll ever need I think.

Well if yall posted a fitbit in here I am gonna post up the new watch LG released with Android Wear 2.0.

LG Watch Sport, I think I am gonna order it in this "Cobalt Blue". It is about the size of my old G-Shock, so it will become my everyday watch. 45mm case and 14.2mm thick.

I really love my 2nd Gen Moto 360, and the added features of this check the boxes for my next "smart" watch. so the 360 will become my "Work" watch for when I travel to an office since it dresses up nicer.

Nice, that looks great. It looks like the smart watch trend is finally starting to pick up steam. I thought mine was cool it just never got any wrist time, was more of a novelty.

I FINALLY got back from service the Seiko SKA347 I have had for the last ten years. It was one of the first watches I had before I really became a "watch guy" and it sat unworn in a drawer for a few years. My wife found it a few years ago and liked it so much that I sized it for her (girls wearing a man's watch is HOT!). Unfortunately it wouldn't hold a charge and according to the manual you're not supposed to need to change the battery (or so I thought). I thought I fried it when I wore it in the lake a while back even though it's water resistant. It's a cool piece though, the Kinetic movement is like a hybrid quartz movement and it has a power reserve indicator that activates when you push the top right button.

My guy is, like probably most watchmakers, infuriatingly in the stone age when it comes to customer service and communication with customers but he does good work and he does it cheaply. I dropped this off with him the same time I gave him my TAG about a month ago and I had to hound him hard to get this back before Valentine's Day. It turns out you do have to replace these batteries eventually and Seiko sent him a bum battery the first go around so it was a parts waiting game. With a new battery, movement cleaning and polish we are back to near its former glory!

And a bonus shot of a crazy expensive but cool Kinetic wireless watch battery charger! I don't know when Seiko first invented this but it was available for sure back in 2009 and they have been making Kinetics since the late 90s I believe. That's high tech stuff for back then! Watchmaker got it for free from a Seiko rep for all the service work he does.

Wifey gonna be happy!

This is where I'm headed with the Undone. I just changed about half of what I had previously configured, so there's no guarantee I'll end up here. I haven't pulled the trigger yet because they won't be delivering until March and I need to stare at it a couple dozen times more.

I really really like that configuration, especially the antique cream dial and blued hands. The green canvas band matches well too, but that might be another one to look at other options. I briefly had a Seiko with a similar band and ended up really not liking it in person. It wasn't very versatile and seemed cheap, like a Timex Weekender

Sigh...

Goes to WUS to research potential watch purchase for Joey, ends up messaging a guy looking to trade down for his Breitling.

Not a huge fan of the strap he has on it now but I like the grab and go entry level Breitling as a next step toward my grail someday. We'll see if he likes TAGs!

Edit: And he doesn't wear divers smaller than 40mm, so it's probably for the best anyway  He did compliment the watch though!

Yeah, I'm not sold on the combo. I don't really like leather, but maybe it's time to take a chance on it. I would still like a cordura banded watch, thought... maybe I'd try and configure a retro military style watch.

Well my LG Watch Sport came today.

I was somewhat concerned about the Blue, but I love it. It is an exclusive color that can only be had when ordering from the Google Store. Everywhere else will only carry the Titanium (Silver Case).

Size seems to be an issue for everyone on the internets, but I knew I'd be OK cause my shock is bigger.
