I drove an Abarf once and need to give it a fair chance with another test drive. I recall the seating position and overall vibe making me feel like I was driving a turbocharged barstool through a Hollister.
But maybe I'm wrong.

the NC's really are a great value, and honestly its probably going to feel a bit like a new experience since that chassis is so different from the NA/NB...i think the common description is "its a better sports car, just not a better miata".
hard to argue with a 7700 rpm redline, room for tons of meat in the fenders and a nicely fleshed out aftermarket. i've heard with a few little things like shocks and a diff, they really come alive.

NC is pretty boring, and heavy, compared to NA, NB, and even ND. It's like, the worst one.

When I was shopping for my MKV GTI with roughly the same budget Jake has now, I was worried once one of those dozen or so bushings on the front end started to get loose it'd turn into a complete monster of a DIY project overhauling all of them or footing a huge shop bill. If I was in the market for a new or CPO car, or just richer, I guess it wouldn't be a concern. Then there's also all the known issues with the pre-2008 2.0T and the engine-out timing chain tensioner/guide rail concerns on the S4. Basically all of the shit everyone on this forum used to talk me out of buying an Audi 3 years ago.

Well you can buy a whole front end kit for like $600 and put it on in an afternoon if your pinch bolt isnt seized. Mine was so I farmed it out to a shop but the bill wasnt horrible. My car has 117k on it now and only the uppers have been worn enough to replace. Have a little while to go on the lowers. Child's play compared to your E36.

NC Miatas are heavy, and really REALLY cramped for tall people. NA have the "roomiest" interior, then the NBs get more cramped, then the NCs are smallest. I'm not sure on the NDs. The earlier years are bigger inside because "lol crash tests"

the worst miata, sure, in the company of 20 year old tin can NA/NB's and a shiny new featherweight ND with a car payment. but its still a lightweight droptop that's cheap, reliable, fun, and not an S2000. i just figured Jake might not want to do the NA thing again after experiencing it already.

Scotty you are more than forgiven by your recommendations of the M535 and MGB-GT, even the wagon. Those are just fantastic, logical, intelligent choices right there if you ask me! Every single one a WIN.

He has a power hardtop NC2 and I love driving it, but I'm too tall for it. The seat doesn't go back far enough and I end up with a sore back after 30 minutes max.
