DJ and I both use the lime green Ryobi stuff from Home Depot. No complaints yet.

All my stuff has never broken despite intense usage over 6 years. I did notice the "cheap small" batteries they come with are garbage NI-CD, but I have a lithium battery that has served me over 6 years and probably 200+ wheel changes.

If I was shopping now, I probably would go milwaukee (just for increased torque) and start that setup, but the Ryobi has served me perfectly.

The dewalt cordless is 300 ft lbs and a 1/2" chuck..works pretty good. Not sure about the ryobi specs

Should have jumped on that dewalt deal. I couldn't find it at my sears and I'm in th market for a new cordless drill. Would have been a good way to get the batteries and start the set

That's the shitty drill though (well apparently all new dewalts have shitty off center chucks that wobble but I still bought one). The drill isn't brushless and there must be other differences cause I got the kit with the brushless drill for Christmas and it has a metal Chuck where that one is plastic

Idk. I think I have that drill and it works fine for home improvement projects. I probably wouldn't use it if I worked with it every day, but it works fine for me. No issue with the chuck, but mine is definitely metal so maybe it's different?

My DeWalt 20v 1/2 inch Impact is fantastic. I've yet to use an electric impact that is better.

I was looking into which brand to buy cause I wanted to start building a cordless tool set. Went with dewalt because we had an old 12v that is still kicking and works fine aside from the batteries not holding a charge but after all these years, can't really fault it. I guess everything is cheaper and shittier now but I figured I'd give it the benefit of the doubt.

Only other brand I'd look at would probably be Milwaukee but DeWalt seemed more available some how. Might just be my imagination. For corded, I went with Makita for circular and I'll probably go Bosch for nice jigsaw and maybe pick up a dewalt cordless.

Like the part that holds the bit would be metal but the sleeve you twist looks plastic in the pic. Mine looks like textured metal. And it doesn't have the xr badge so it's not brushless so it's not as efficient as the impact. Sure it works just as well for homeowner stuff like you said though.

I have a stack of Ryobi cordless tools. They all work, they're available at home depot, usually cheaper than online prices, 1/4 mile from my house. No complaints.

All of my heavy lifting tools are corded though, miter saw, sawzall, rotary hammer/drill, etc.

I've got the dewalt 20V drill, impact driver and sawzall, and I've been pretty happy with them. The drill is ok, the impact is awesome and the sawzall is great, but it doesn't run as long as I'd like on one battery. All my tools that do the really heavy work (drill press, bandsaw, tablesaw, ratchets and impact are either corded or air powered, but the portable battery powered stuff from dewalt is top notch. Using the drill and impact driver I built shelves that are 20' long by 12' high and didn't have to recharge any of the batteries. Overall, the dewalt tools have been a good buy.
