I believe you to be incorrect. But I won't share anything I don't know 100%. Sad is probably the best word to describe it.

"Closed casket" in the obituary gave me a similar impression...
2008 Chevy HHR SS

GMPP Turbo Upgrade Kit (290 HP / 315 TQ) | ZZP 1.25" rear sway bar | Front Brembos (12.4")

I spoke to Stephen and he disclosed what happened. I was not asked to keep it hush hush, but out of respect for everyone, don't want to post it publicly either. Will explain more via chat or text.

I'm sure there are some belief systems that require closed, but I likely am wrong and will butt out of this.
Only met Chad once. I recall him being a fun-loving and friendly guy. Definite loss for the world.

If you have friends that have a tendency to get unstable when they drink too much, make sure to watch out for them. Don't let them go home by themselves whether it's walking or driving or whatever.
This whole stupid thing was caused by having a few too many drinks.

Ya know, that's probably the most intelligent thing ever said on this forum. While I know we all "knew" Chad, his friends and family are probably still in shock and sadness. My heart goes out to you on this one brother.

Sorry to hear about this.
As someone who has realized alcohol is not my friend, I would say be aware of the things your friends are struggling with and provide support where you can. The hardest thing to do is not drink (too much) when we get so many signals that drinking equals fun. Identifying this in friends and doing things with them that isn't centered around their destructive behavior is an awesome way to be a friend.
I'm not saying this was the case here or people should have done things differently... just offering the life lessons I've learned through my own struggles. If my words can help one person battle their demons, then they're worth typing.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
I think this kind of thing no one wants to talk about, but if I have learned anything this week its that sometimes you have to.
I lost a cousin in a similar way years ago, we'll never know if what she did was intentional or accidental but it happened just the same. My entire family struggles with substance abuse. Grandparents on both sides and both of my parents have had their own long struggles with alcoholism. They always warned me when I was growing up that I was at particular risk for forming addictions and I didn't pay any attention to them. Boy was I fucking wrong.
If anyone in this club ever feels out of control or wants to talk to someone, call me, 24/7. I'm literally always available on FB chat through my phone too. You'll get no judgement from me. I love all of you guys and if there's anything I can do to keep something like this from happening again in our club, I'll do it.

Jake said we raised $200, which I think is fantastic. I was amazed by the amount of people who came yesterday. He clearly impacted a lot of people's lives.

Yeah, we donated a collective $200 to the American Cancer Society.
There were ~9 MMers at the service, which filled both the main area of the church and the balcony. Was standing room only. Definitely an impressive and touching turnout.
I did take a minute to introduce myself to both of his parents, and in both cases when I said "Madison Motorsports" each of them cut me off with a very excited "oh, he was always talking about you all and that club and all the fun things he was doing" sort of comment. Made me feel good and is a nice reminder that even among the alumni bickering and students not listening and everyone buying broken old cars, we collectively have made major impacts in many peoples' lives.
