RIP, Chad. - Jake - 05-24-2016 Dan Parmelee texted me this morning to share some news about one of our own. He found out through his airplane mechanics that Chad Rhodes passed away on Sunday, at his home. His obituary is posed on the DNR site: http://www.dnronline.com/obituaries/view/9211 I'm collecting donations via PayPal to be sent along to Relay For Life, as the obit requests. I'll collect until Friday at noon which will give me time to send off to RFL before the service on Friday afternoon. You can send via PayPal here. Chad was an active MMer when we were in school and I know many of us have fond memories of him around school and at club events with his WS6 and later, his Cobra. He worked a few NASA events and always brought a good attitude and some laughter wherever he was. RIP, Chad. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: RIP, Chad. - CaptainHenreh - 05-24-2016 fuck. Re: RIP, Chad. - JPolen01 - 05-24-2016 Chad gave a ride in his ws6 at the first showker/klines meet. We always had a good time whenever we ran into each other. He was always laughing. RIP
Re: RIP, Chad. - Ken - 05-24-2016 What... wow. RIP. Re: RIP, Chad. - SlimKlim - 05-24-2016 Devastating. That cruise we did down to Roanoke and back is one of my favorite college memories.

Agreed, I need to look for some photos from that trip tonight. He and I had a blast heading back to Hburg after leaving your parents' house. We took the Miata up Route 11 the whole way and stopped at the Pink Cadillac Diner for burgers and shakes on the way home. Weather was perfect the whole trip. I hit that rock on some mountain road and drove the rest of the way with a big bubble in the sidewall.
Re: RIP, Chad. - rherold9 - 05-24-2016 This is very shocking. Way too soon. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: RIP, Chad. - Senor_Taylor - 05-24-2016 I can't believe this. I always joked with Chad about how I never had seen his Termi and I didn't even know if it was real. Now I guess I never will see it. He was such a happy guy and was always smiling. He distracted me so much at the car show when I was announcing winners and was back there waving his arms and being silly. I chat with his sister pretty often since she works at Copper Beech. I feel really bad for her. He will be missed sorely. Really sad day for MM. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk Re: RIP, Chad. - V1GiLaNtE - 05-24-2016 This is very sad news. Lots of great memories. Probably one of the nicest and happiest people I had met during my time at JMU. Re: RIP, Chad. - Jake - 05-24-2016 Some of us will be attending the service on Friday - 4 PM at Trissel's Mennonite Church in Broadway: https://goo.gl/maps/ruTyGqdSXR32 Joey and I were thinking of heading to El Charro after the service before we head home, given it's one of the only restaurants that hasn't changed since we were last students all together. Re: RIP, Chad. - Sully - 05-24-2016 I'll always remember him rolling up to my first autocross in his trans am (firebird) blasting east bound and down as loud as his speakers would go with windows down and t-tops off. I don't think we have MM protocol for a fallen member. Do we have to drive a Miata off a cliff? Re: RIP, Chad. - Jake - 05-24-2016 I had a few minutes at work so I updated the homepage. Re: RIP, Chad. - ispoonwithmugen - 05-24-2016 Wow... Chad was a great guy. He was one of the first people I chatted with in MM and definitely had a heavy influence on me to join this family. RIP man. Re: RIP, Chad. - Goodspeed - 05-24-2016 RIP Chad. I believe I left JMU just as he was become a more active member so I didn't know him all that well, but I remember when I did see & speak to him laughter always ensued. Thinking of those of you who knew him better as a friend, and his family as well. Re: RIP, Chad. - BFisch06 - 05-24-2016 Wow. When I started at JMU he was living in the same apartment complex. I had just gotten married and we tried to find something "off the beaten path" to cut down on noise and shenanigans. It was almost always quiet, except when some guy came in with a not-sure-what-color-I-want-to-be-today Mustang. You could hear it coming. The real excitement was when he fired it up and you didn't expect it! This may not be the place or time to ask, but does anyone know what happened? RIP Chad |
