Hyperfest 2016
#41
Got a call from Laura yesterday to figure out my logistics, because I am a unique and special snowflake.

Going to be driving Friday (no working!) in Open Practice, then TT Saturday/Sunday while helping pace races and typical grid/announcement shenanigans. Very excited to be back on the NASA side for Hyperfest. Was fun being a "green shirt" and helping with Hyperfest proper in years past, but now that I have the car where I want it and am trying to be competitive/drive better, I want the maximum seat time.

Thinking I'll spend all Friday on street tires to practice and knock time down, then throw the Hoohoos on for timed sessions the rest of the weekend. Hopefully I can find someone to ride shotgun on Friday for a bit o' coaching.

I'll be arriving Thursday around 6 PM. When is everyone else getting there?

Decided to get a post together with all of our info and to hopefully coordinate some food and drinks. Feel free to correct details of who's doing what if I got it wrong. Tried to compile between FB message and the forums.

People Attending:
  • Jake (driving Friday, working/driving Saturday and Sunday)
  • DJ (driving all days)
  • Jess (spectating)
  • Maeng (driving/instructing)
  • Justin (working all days)
  • Casey (working all days)
  • Kaan??
  • Ryan (working as needed, driving Saturday/Sunday)
  • Ryan's GF Shelly (working Saturday/Sunday)
  • Jon (spectating)
  • Matt W (working)
  • Zach
  • Paul (driving Saturday/Sunday)
  • Zach's GF Kate
  • James
  • Jame's GF Haleigh
  • Taylor (spectating)

Food and Drink Coordination
Looks like we have quite the crew. Those of us who are working will have lunches provided all days and dinner/beer provided on Saturday. If you are not working, you don't get fed on Saturday - this is different from normal NASA weekends. Food trucks/carts will be on site Saturday on the Hyperfest side, and the VIR food shack will also be open.

There's been banter about grilling as well. Who's in for that?

I have that massive coffee pot and will plan to bring it based on several requests. Bring travel mugs (or regular mugs) unless you want to drink out of crappy disposable coffee cups.

Tell me what you want to bring/share and I will update below. We can use my trailer as "home base" - I will have an EZ-up and a few camp chairs. Don't want to volunteer DJ and Jess as "home base part deux" until one/both of them say yes for sure, but I suspect we will be paddocked next to each other per usual and the party will spill between the trailers.

Food/Drink Contributions
  • Case of water (Jake)
  • Case of water (Paul)
  • Beer worth drinking (Jake)
  • Beer of questionable drinking quality (Paul)
  • Beer - Natty Boh and he doesn't care what anyone thinks (Jon)
  • Beer (Ryan)
  • Coffee pot and coffee (Jake)
  • Donuts (Kate)
  • Grill (Paul)
  • Grill and propane (Taylor)
  • Burger patties (Taylor)
  • Side dish (Ryan)

I will bring beer for sure. Can bring a food item, but I would prefer to just throw dollars at someone else who brings food.

Edit: I can bring a non-perishable food item as I do not have a cooler and don't feel like buying one.

I shall bring 24 pack of beer. Can bring food as well but have no cooler.

Also, Laura has changed her mind about me working. She will only need me for small amounts of time on Saturday or Sunday

If we're coming down, I can probably grab a few cases of craft stuff if people will drink it. Things such as blue Mountain kolsch or various stone beers. Maybe some ballast point.

I'll bring the MM track grill and propane. Someone want to go in with me on some burgers and stuff?

Also, who is leaving from Harrisonburg? I'd like to drive with someone.

Matt, beer from whoever would be amazing.

I think food-wise, we'll want burgers, hot dogs, buns for both, condiments/toppings (cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard), and a few sides - potato salad and baked beans? I can bring a pot to use on the grill to warm those up.

I'm in for instructing both days and I'll probably bring some decent beer and perhaps something else for the grill. Just an FYI for people that don't know what to bring, we can always use more water.
