There are some good places in the area near Westcreek. King crossing at Gaskins and Patterson. Some stuff near Innsbrook on Cox Rd. Garages are few and far between at apartments. But if you need it, I'll have a brandy new garage you can use in Sept.

Oh damn, thats right in my neighborhood Ryan. Kemp also lives right here, i think. And Chip is like 20 mins away north of the mall. I'll be moving back to rva around end of july/august i think at least that's currently the plan. I would jump on board with you if i had any idea what i was doing then. I'm just going back to my parents, $free.

Anyways, gayton pointe townhomes have detached garages, it's in the area where you're working, next to shopping center, close to 64, quiet and their website says 1-1.3k for rent. Probably worth looking at. I can't seem to remember if there are apartments with garages up lauderdale but there are a ton of townhouses up that way just google for apt's off that road. You may be hardpressed to find somewhere with a garage at that price tbh. Just find a place with a big parking lot. You'll be fine

Also, as you know, traffic ain't that big a deal, we live up there and my mom used to drive to midlothian/hull street everyday, 31 mins exactly, it was like a 20 mile drive.

Alrighty. I found two JMU Grads who will also be working at Cap One starting this summer. We are looking at the Fan, Carytown, Museum District area. Basically near downtown. Of course 90% of these places don't have garages or they are being used for storage.

Now the issue is finding a garage to work on the car. Ad already posted on Craigslist for a wanted garage.

Any ideas on what else to do? Storage units in the area say storage only for larger units... Don't wanna just be like so can I work on my car here? Lol....

Restrict your search to places with open garages?

That's what Joey and I always did, it sucked a little to avoid so many complexes but there were enough apartments and townhomes with garages that we always found one at a decent price.

Granted, if you are trying to live close to a downtown type of area, you just won't get that option. Move a hair farther out. It's why I live in Alexandria and not DC proper. Same rent, bigger place, two car garage.

I did restrict it. On Zillow all I have found is one place and it is terribly dated.

There are a few outside of downtown but that's not most preferable for all 3 of us. Sure I can find a nice on bedroom by myself with a garage for $1200-1300 all inclusive. But, living with roommates I'm talking $500-700 then add in a place to find a garage. I literally can't find a single roommate that doesn't want to live downtown and my ad has been on CL for a week now.

Edit: Not to mention I've been browsing CL about 4 times a week.

Yea. Just don't live downtown. Or don't have a garage. Isn't cap one like 30 minutes from Richmond anyways. Or are you working in a richmond office.

Yes, we are looking at newish renovated places. A few hundred dollars adds up to a few thousand a year saved....

Edit: I'd rather live with two JMU grads that work at the same company and one that I actually lived with last summer than some randos.

You can rent a 3 bedroom house with a garage for $1500 or less which would save you even more. You just have to live outside of Richmond. Also 30 minutes is before traffic which isn't horrible and nothing like nova but it's still annoying. But I guess you young kids like to live in cities so you can go out to all the hip bars and clubs and get fucked up

Lol I umdestand I can be outside of downtown. And nah it isn't 30 without traffic. It's 20. But yes when you are young you want to live in younger areas. Kind of makes sense

But you'd be surprised what happens when you start working. Not saying you'll go out and rage but you will have a desire to have a drink or two at happy hour with co-workers to bond/bitch about management, etc. Adds up.
