I don't know if Costco will order anything - never purchased there. But as Scott said keep an eye on the manufacturer. I bought soem BFG all seasons for my car a month or two ago and they were doing the $70 rebate card. Seems to pop up fairly often.

Edit: Does Costco order tires for you? Neither the one here at JMU nor the Charlottesville one have my tire.
yeah, I was in there yesterday and asked the guy about the size you had posted. he said it'd take 3-5 days to get them in.
So, I'm not going to buy a 200 TW tire because I don't want to worry about my tires being bald before I graduate. Anything is better than what's on my car now, so I'm looking at BFG Sport Comp 2s or Yokohama S Drives.
The sport comp 2 is a 340 TW and the S Drive is 300. The ratings for the BFG is better, but the consensus is that if I autocross occasionally, the lower TW rating will hold up better? In the next year I can only imagine <10 autocross events so I can't imagine I would destroy a set.

Keep in mind that in reality, TW is meaningless. A tire manufacturer can put whatever they want on the side of the tire. A 200 TW tire (like the one we told you to buy), would actually last longer than the tires you mentioned for your intended use. You'd be surprised how quickly you'll burn through a set while autcrossing (the higher TW tire). My brother put the Dunlop Star Spec's on his Miata and after 15k street miles, several track days and more autocrosses than I can count, they are just starting to get to the point of needing replacement (mostly do to uneven wear caused by the camber/toe his car has).
I've had both of the tires you are asking about and neither are going to be a good autocross tire. I'd go S-drive before I went Sport Comp just based on how they handle dry/wet conditions.
I've just heard so much about star specs burning through so quickly.

Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk With a stock alignment and like 5-10 autocrosses I'd say they'd last around 12k-15k with proper rotation and pressures

So what it sounds like to me as much as you don't want to hear it. Maybe you need to decide if you want a competitive autocross tire or a long lasting shitty street tire.
I mean honestly, if you don't have the money. Stop trying to explain "competitive" go out and have fun and who cares if you have no grip. Then get a designated autox or track setup once you graduate (btw, that doesn't guarantee money. Ask me how I know)
But I would also listen to what everyone is saying. And you have a second vehicle so you probably don't "need" to put a ton of highway miles on the miata next year. But at the same time, sounds like you're trying to build to purpose built vehicles and neither one is the purpose you need. Put cheap tires on the miata and don't worry about auto x or autox it anyways occasionally and don't be upset when you slide and tear the tires up. I autocrossed on corded tires and drifted the while course in my 240 and had a blast and I autocrossed in my m3 of sumitomos or whatever the hell they're called and understeered like crazy and it sucked and it kinda destroyed the tires a little bit. And then I drove Pete's m3 on r comps and realized why the hell they make race tires for racing.
Why not get a nice set of tires (whatever these guys recommend) for the street. And save up for some cheap wheels and then get some take off r comps at the track for autox

I don't think I ever said I wanted to get tires that would make me competitive. I just don't want to have a tire be destroyed by autocrossING it. When I say my current tires are holding me back, I mean they have less grip than 4 ice blocks would. They cost ~$50 each and they are 9 years old. I just want a good tire that will not chunk and destroy themselves after autocross because that's what my current tires are doing.
I've just accepted that I won't finish the lift and tires on the truck until graduation because tires for it are $800+

Just sharing my first hand experience. Any of the current autocross "street" tires will suit your needs just fine and you'll be surprised how long they last.
I think come springtime I'm going to replace the Yoko s.drives on my 18" ASA wheels (currently on the stock 17's with winter tires) - they're only about 15k miles old but are getting fairly stiff and loud as hell. Highway trips were becoming a chore (combined with the droning exhaust - also being binned, back to stock.) I don't need anything near their "high performance summer" performance on the street, so anyone have any recommendations for a super quiet, long wearing all-seasonish type tire? I've never bought anything less than a "performance" tire in my life, so out of my lane here.
Still loving my BFG G-Force Comp2 A/S. Fairly aggressive for an all season, great in the rain, and pretty quiet. They were real grippy when I first got them, flinging rocks everywhere. Not like that anymore but still do just fine. Haven't been able to test them in any real snow. Plus the tread pattern is cool looking for extra scene points.

Wow, the DWS 06 looks solid. 9/10 ride quality and 8.7 for noise. Currently top of the list
+1 for DWS. Have them on our 330 and they are a great tire. Plenty of grip for mountain runs, still perform well in wet, and do acceptably well in snow.
They get a little noisy as they age (don't all tires?). MPG did not suffer.

Thanks Pete, approx. how many miles would you say did they have before you noticed an increase in noise? Funnily enough, come to think of it, I've probably never owned a set of tires for longer than these s.drives at ~15k.

Good question. 20-30k miles at least? I don't track it closely enough to know...

Definitely another +1 for the Conti DWS. I had those as winter tires on my Evo and they were great all around tires. I had no problems with deep (1+ foot plus) snow in my lowered evo on them. My M3 also came with them so I'm probably going to continue running them in the winter on on it.
I just ordered the brand new Continental ExtremeContact Sport (replacement for the DW) for the summer tires on my M3. The early reviews that I've been seeing have been excellent, so I'll report back once I've had some time to play with them. Just waiting on my new wheels which will hopefully be here before the car show.

Back from the dead. I have never purchased tires from Costco but they have a good selection of highly reviewed tires. Current promotion of $70.00 and $.01 install cuts the price on the online competitor prices. Has anybody had any experience with them? Good or bad experience? In general I do love me some Costco.
In the market for a high performance all-season to replace my fairly worn summer only tires (still trying to figure out who thought that was I good idea on a CUV). Anybody have experience with any of these type tire within the last couple years? Basic requirement is avoiding switching to winter tires for the couple days we get snow/ice and get decent performance for the remaining 99% of the year. Seems like a lot of advances have been made in tire design since the last time I directly purchased tires (5+ years ago).
Current high considerations are (1st 2 available at Costco):
1) Michelin PS A/S 3+
2) BFGoodrich G-force Comp 2 A/S
3) Conti DWS 06
I've bought from Costco before, and had good experiences. The only downside, if there is one, is that they dont take appointments - first come, first serve. When I last used them I got there about 30 minutes before they opened and that was too late, I was there quite a while.
Most tire shops will match pricing if you call around, though so it may not be worth the cost savings.
I have the Pilot Sport A/s 3+ on my E91 and no complaints. They ride nice and have better steering response than the Conti DWS that I had on my A4, I never liked the mushy steering feel they gave.
