No Porsche for me. While I could build a cayman, I couldnt afford to blow up the motor (12k replacements), or replace the shell in a crash. I lined up an e46 m3 that will be undergoing the transformation as soon as the SE46 sells.

I have decided to sell my SpecE46 car. This car started life as a GTS2 car. In the winter of 2014/15, I stripped the car down to a basic shell/cage and did an overhaul of the car. The car has every trick part allowed in SpecE46 and in the car's first 4 events has won 1st 4 times, and 2nd once. Due to a headgasket it missed the 1st event, and a bad battery led to the 3rd DQ.
This is a chance for somebody to buy a ready-to-win SpecE46, go race at VIR Nationals and win. If you buy before July VIR with NASA, I will deliver the car to VIR, and provide coaching. Have a new build SE46 for the price of used. If price is met, AIM MXL2 (the new one) will be included!

Car is ready to go! Already teched for 2015 NASA season. Front bumper is unpainted, and rear right door has a door scuff from James Clay's bumper. emoticon Trunk Lid has holes for spoiler, but comes with a spare trunk lid with no holes. Car is down to minimum weight, always ran on Redline Oils.

what is the M going to solve for you compared to this car? it seems like that would just be a more complex and expensive answer to the question. or is this going to be bigger on fun and "damn the torpedoes?"

It should be more fun for him as he wants to be back in GTS. Although I do believe he hasn't been the happiest with the way the e46 drove?

Not sure about the rules but I've seen S52s with Sunbelt Stage II cams, a tune, 3.5in intake/24# injectors + full exhaust dyno 275rwhp, so yeah, it can be done, but the cams are hard to find and close to $2k I think. You can tune an S54 way down for certain classes, and I think you can get into the high-300s pretty easily as well. Also solid lifters and 8000rpms.

GTS classing is strictly a power to weight ratio. The motor can be swapped provided it's from the same manufacturer as the car's chassis, I believe. So an S54 swap in an E36 is fair game, as is an S52 with all sorts of stuff bolted to it.

Rules are completely open but power to weight and marque specific motors. I wanted a newer platform than the e36 for wider tires, better aero and flexibility in classing. Where the e36 was limited to TTB/PTB and GTS2, the e46 is flexible in gts2/3/4 and st2/3, tt3/2

Most likely gts3. Whatever is the most fun. Still at least a month or two out from starting the build but keeping my eyes open for deals. Wouldn't be ready till 2016 anyway

That sounds like a lot of work. I don't know about DJ, but that wouldn't sit right with me. I like a nice clean slate to start with, so just getting the M3 and making it your own sounds more appealing.

Lots of reasons.

1. Spec car is worth more than the sum of its parts
2. Small fenders of 330i
3. Not only motor/trans but entire rear cradle/differential/axles/suspension is different
4. I hate silver
5. I prefer coupe looks
6. Resale value of "pure" m3 is higher

Update: Car ran well with the new swapped motor in it. Getting a fuel hesitation at the top end, so I ordered a replacement fuel pump since it is original.

I currently have a trade offer that seems pretty solid. Based on how many drops for the rest of the season is wether I will finish out October races and then trade. The car finally was "right" at the last race suspension wise by the end of sunday when I made some changes. Super neutral. She will do the new owner right.
