The problem with trying to get other lots is JMU. They are a pain and only offer very very very limited selection as I'm sure Garrett can attest to last year. We as officers discuss the 4th and ironically the 11th. Sam needs to get on here and post. He knows the most as he said he was going to talk to Ray and JMU but I'll make sure all of us get into the same boat about where we are with this. JMU has to accept a date before any major planning can take place. But, feel free to give out ideas. And yes you are allowed to contact people yourself. If you don't want to or think the officers should then we shall once we get a date settled. So if you need to let people know right this very moment let them know those two weekends are possibilities.
I'm also going to start putting a rough schedule to come for all the damn antsy people... :bootyshake:

The lot was a difficulty last year. You need to get in and talk to Debbie asap. Also get her to double check. I had both convos reserved last year but that was thrown aside when she didn't realize there was a national championship club field hockey game at JMU that day and we got stuck with half. I personally liked convo from the amount of space that we could get. I remember Debbie saying that C4 wasn't an option last year but I can't remember what it was for so you guys will have to weigh options for C4 vs Convos (more space, less easy to find). I have a document with some stuff I'll send over whenever I find it.

Alright so I had a meeting with her today, unfortunately she didn't have enough time to go over much but we did get to talk about a few dates. The 4th is a no go, and she was really against us having it on the 11th as well do to Madipalooza. She said it wouldn't be "impossible" but she would prefer us to look for a different date, and if we had to do it the 11th it would affect witch lot we got, and she'd have to talk to other people to even confirm that we could in fact do it that weekend. However, she strongly suggested we do it the 18th (which is a Summit weekend -_-) and said that it would probably be the only possible weekend to get C4 due to relay for life being on the 17th and have already reserved C4 from 6pm-6am, meaning it would already be clear for us come 8am day of the car show. After that she ran out of time, and told me we'd need to have another meeting and she'd plan for longer, but the downside being she's completely booked until sometime next week. So I'll be meeting with her again next week. In the mean time we'll be doing other forms and etc..

Back when Dan was president Madipalooza was the same day and it seemed to go pretty smoothly. Maybe he can attest more or less to that. I wouldn't do it on any NASA day because alumni attendance will be low since everyone will be at the race track.

Heh, I guess this is another year I miss Madipalooza
Can we get permission to put up fliers around campus this year? I feel like with the 20,000 people that go here, we could actually get some word out around campus and get crazy attendance. Along with a mass e-mail, which would be even better.

She didn't exactly say we could do it the same weekend as Madipalooza, she said it wasn't "impossible" and that she'd have to get it confirmed by others. But I won't know anything for sure until next week.

Attn: this is a complaint about jmu, not the officers attempting to get anything done
Madipalooza is stupid as hell. My gf made me go last year, and it was just super lame and stupid. But to the point of it being thr same weekend, im pretty sure my year, we had madipalooza(which is a retarded name) relay 4 life, and mm show on the same day. It was why we couldnt have c4 if i recall. I feel like jmu had been putting more eggs in that madipalooza basket which is why they are trying to say you can't do it but thats stupid because its on the other side of campus and mm uses practically no jmu resources to do the car show. Personally, i feel jmu has been in decline since madipalooza started. My freshman(1st year of madipalooza) and sophmore year, parties were still a huge thing and things were pretty chill law enforcement wise(compared to now but probably more strict than it was before springfest) i was a night bus driver and i watched the decline from having 800-1000 passangers on one bus in one night spring semester of sophomore year to having 40 on some nights my junior and senior year. (Avg was about 200 on busier routes) idk if jmu raised the standard to get in weeding out the more likely to party(i believe they did) or if less people take the bus cause theyre too stupid to figure out how they work at night or they feel too entitled and think the bus should be their private taxi and take them only where they need to go. I feel it is also a combination of the latter two. They cant figure it out and dont wait for the right one and then get pissed when they have to ride the loop. Either way, i believe i witnessed a declining trend for partying while i was there and it continues to decline. Maybe other alumni can shed light. Is it a good thing? Maybe. :dunno: i also feel like i saw less parties around complexes when i was there too in my later years. The one exception being when aspen openned and was unregulated (because outside city limits) we had one bus scheduled for aspen and by the end of almost every night, we'd have 7 buses in aspen for cleanup and everyone would be full to the brim. Talking like the old days where you had 125 people easy on a bus that holds 90 max. Not this, "oh the bus is full" at 75 people crap you see now. And no i didnt count wrong. I know there are only 6 routes. My boss would fire up a bus and come help us out as well as all 6 routes detouring to hit aspen. TL;DR Sorry, i ranted, but JMU fell off the fun wagon

I agree, Madipalooza is lame. Also, I'm going to see if the weekend of march 28th is a possibility as well, in which case we'd have to move karting to a different date if there's no way the 11th will work.

It's a shame that nothing can ever go seamlessly. Things even changed, and are still changing over here at VT. A lot of things are making me like the school less and less. Bureaucracies are awful to deal with, because if someone doesn't feel like doing work, they can tell you to talk to someone else and have you running laps because you're not important or throwing the school millions of dollars in "donations."
That aside, I'm hoping the show is not the 18th, as that is also the date (I think? maybe?) that we were shooting for here at VT. But, I'm signed up for a run in Roanoke, so I wouldn't be able to make it anyway. However, it's up to you guys to decide. Not my call, haha Watching.
