Maengelito Wrote:rherold9 Wrote:I'm sorry I don't believe at karting alumni really interact with students too much. It is more of a competition where alumni get on their team and students get on theirs and you alumni fight to be the best. Tell me where interaction is there? I think interaction starts at social events where alumni and students can actually talk a lot. Tailgates, grill outs, etc... Where alumni can make it but not many do. There are only a handful of alumni who can and actually make it to things in Harrisonburg where us students are but yet you complain.
In previous years, I think I've met a majority of the students (at the time) from karting and at the track. I think the key here is to plan a social event after karting ahead of time so people can plan to be there. If people wanna party at Justin's he needs to be asked ahead of time so he can prepare if he's down for it, and so we can toss some dinero his way for his troubles.
I've met a lot of people through karting and had great conversations with them, but usually that's at the after-event. I do think that mixing people up on teams would help people mingle more though.

But then DJ will bitch because he is on a slow team or it has been rigged.....
There is no way to reasonably satisfy DJ's competitive lust so I think we should just do whatever and hope for the best.

I remember... I walked through and told Rex we were leaving because someone was going to get arrested that night. They didn't, I was wrong, should have stayed longer. Bring back the fun!!!!

I'm sorry, everyone, but I think we're doing a kickass job this year. I realize everyone needs to be a little blunt to keep our heads straight, but this year, we've already done a million times more than last year (no offense to last year's officers.) The new members are always asking me when the next event is the next day after the last one and everyone is super excited to be a part of MM. We don't have the luxury of everyone already being friends and living with each other like in year's past. Hell, half of our members don't even have their cars up here in the Burg. I appreciate everyone's advice, but honestly, we're the officers now and while we WILL listen to your suggestions, ultimately it's up to us. We are focusing on making MM a good club and retaining members so we actually have people for events. (Trust me, I've telling every member about track weekends EVERY time I see them.)
We are all working really hard this year and I'm pretty dang tired of everyone telling us we're doing a shitty job. (Shut up about the shirt. That's the shirt, get over it.). Don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, y'all should be pretty damn grateful that an officer replied withing 5 DANG MINUTES of someone asking. Just because I don't know all the details doesn't mean I'm making stuff up.
We might still do karting, we might not, we don't know. Give us a little bit of time to figure out something happening NEXT YEAR, please. We're still collecting dues. I've been running my ass off for this club and I'd like a little patience and faith. Just a little.
And Sully, you're the only person I've ever heard say they hate the sticker. I like them, no one else has complained. We have a lot of them. Oh well.
Lol
Same shit different year.

As a freshman here, I have to agree from what I've seen that the officers this year are doing a good job. All of them have done their best kept us freshman involved, and I never have felt that I wasn't welcome. I haven't been in the club long, but to be honest I have enjoyed every second of it and really can't wait to meet more members and alumni, whether it be at the track or through a tailgate/ social event.

Justin, you certainly haven't, but we've caught a lot of flak.
