Patrick - '06 WRX & '29 Model A
#1
Hey All. I'm Patrick and I'm an alum and a townie, graduating in '07 with a TIE Management degree. I'm currently driving an '06 Subaru WRX and a '29 Ford Model A "Woody". Back in my college days I drove a '02 Nissan Sentra, '89 Mazda RX7 (which is where the username comes from) and then an '06 Yamaha FZ6 out of college. I was a lot more into performance and speed back in those days, but got enough tickets to cure that disease. haha.

The WRX is nothing really to awful special. Just a bone stock WRX with 100,xxx miles on it.

The '29 Model is pretty sweet, though. My great grandfather bought it brand new from the Ford dealership in Harrisonburg back in 1929, so it's a family heirloom, which has finally made it down to my dad and I in the past year. We've put in some wrench time on it after it was neglected during the previous family member's possession, and have it on the road and running well, but still not 100%. The headlights and horn don't work very well and the radiator has some drips. Also to come is rebuilding the original engine with hardened valves and seats so we can quit running it with lead substitute additives.

My goal is to (hopefully soon) sell my WRX and get an old 1948-50 Ford F1 pickup truck. So I'll probably make another post in the "For Sale" Forum to advertise the WRX with more specifics and pictures.

I don't currently have any pictures of either car but I'll try and get some up by the end of next week.

Hey.....I woke up at 7:45.....just didn't get out of bed til 8.

NICE.....although I am partial to the 53-56 body style. My dad and I have a 56 that has been awaiting restoration for about 10 years, it is a slow process Smile

Ummm..... yea.... I don't know about that. I'd probably end up ripping the transmission a new asshole - double clutching an 85 year old transmission with no synchros is bad enough as it is and trying to do it repeatedly in an AutoX would be a straight nasty bitch. though, realistically, I probably wouldn't get it out of 2nd gear anyways, so it might be doable. though then I'd also have to worry about my dad ripping me a new asshole as well.

So, anyways. Pictures. here we go.

Pretty simple interior - and you can see another project in the background, 1954 John Deere Model 60 tractor (torn down for a radiator core replacement). Antique Tractor pulls are considered a "Motorsport", right?

It's amazing the advances in motor technology. You could get 6 times that much power out of a 3.3 liter nowadays.

Yea, as well as engine control. Choke and Air/Fuel enricher knob, throttle set control, and manual spark advance control. oh yea, and optional hand crank in case the battery doesn't quite have enough juice to spin the starter.

So do we ever have local autocross events?

Wow, that's tremendously cool. You should bring it to the college auto-x and take it through the course however slowly you had to, just for fun.
