A bit more progress, although somewhat hindered by unexpected surprises. got into doing a little suspension refresh, Koni's with H&R sport springs.

Old vs New

Woudn't have been too bad of a job except the driver side strut was fused into the housing and never got it out, so that caused a week of the car on a stand while i tried to source another housing.

In the process i learned way to much about tii vs base parts and the slight differences in spindle sizes/mounting hole placements.

after what seemed like forever, got the front put back together. obligatory before/after
[Image: IMG_20131108_091553.jpg]

lotta work for a little drop, but is loads more responsive. hopefully i'll get time to do the back before too long.
oh, and somewhere along the line I had to replace the center link to appease the inspection gods

Well that is excellent. When are you bringing it back to Roanoke so I can drive it?

Kind of suck at updating this. Spent most of the winter running down various electrical and ignition issues, more on that some other time.

Wanted to throw a sneak peek up before the car show. Proud to present off a wrinkle free driver door. Owners prior to Chan had caught the door while backing up (shortly after the restore)

After months of sourcing parts and a bill at the body shop I'm ashamed to admit to, we now have a normal looking car.

The rockers were missing the covers and had badly flaking paint.

I sanded them down and hit them with a self etching primer and a few coats of chip guard on the body shops recommendation.
[Image: ujejaqu5.jpg][Image: rehypave.jpg][Image: e6u3aruj.jpg][Image: ynezyna2.jpg]

I find few things in this life as satisfying as pealing off a clean tape line.

Shop recommended hitting it with a flat black afterwards but I ran out of time tonight. Chip guard looks pretty good in a dimly lit garage while high on paint fumes and a few pints deep, but we'll see if i still think so at the show tomorrow.

i debated long and hard about that, had them taped up, but it just looked off. going to see how much paint is going to cost, the estimate might end up swaying my opinion. but you're right, should get them mounted now and pull them off if i can swing painting them later.

why can't lowes just carry spray cans of pastellblau or fjord or whatever color the car is.

This place sells color matched cans for $20/ea. I used it to spray one of my little jackhole covers in the side skirts. No idea how expensive or effective it would be on a larger panel like that, but it worked really well for the one small piece I had to do.

E&M Paint does the same here, but may be a bit more $$, part of me thinks it'd be worth $50 to try it, but then i'll be pissed when i end up taking to a shop to fix my Fup and paying twice.

E&M are like $35 a piece if I remember correctly.

Quick teaser, bit the bullet and got them painted. This will probably have to hold you for another 6 months before I actually get them installed.

awesome cell quality this morning.

There's a black rubber molding that will go between the body and flare/air damn like so
[Image: IMG_3991-1.jpg]

I'm going to have to cut back the lower molding before putting them on, and have to get some help on the air dam location, wasn't able to get a good seam on the air dam corners/front flairs. they are supposed to line up pretty nicely from what i was told.
