Even though its a 13 year-old daily driven Jeep, I gotta keep it fresh, nomsayin? Gave it a wash, spray wax, earl change and re-dyed the plastic trim with "Restore Black" gel. I keep a damn fine mall crawler :lol:

Question. These wheels have some caked on brake dust/gunk that I can't get rid of. I've used simple green, I've used Meguiars Wheel wash and Meguairs Wheel polish. Gimmie you suggestions. BTW, washed but didn't wax the vette tonight.

Sonax Full Effect/ Iron X or any iron remover/ gel to remove the dust/ deposits- be c.a.r.e.f.u.l with APCs/ degreasers on chrome/ uncoated wheel finishes, they will stain

hmmm, you painted them right? The Sonax should be gentle enough- griots makes a decent otc cleaner- straight up or diluted might be gentle....depends what you sprayed them with. Could always use a really light dilution of APC such as Simple Green etc. 10:1 or even higher

its considered wheel paint, so i would assume its pretty sturdy stuff, but i know chemicals can cancel all that out.

Dipyourcar has some wheel cleaner for dipped wheels. Should be mild enough for paint if it can go on dip. It might just be repackaged sonax though because it does a similar color shift once sprayed :lol:

Well in that case...sounds like the Griots OTC wheel cleaner/ heavy duty wheel cleaner would be an option, or go for the Sonax Full Effect, choose the least aggressive method first!

Detailed my brothers FR-S and the Vette over the weekend. The FR-S was washed three times and the vette twice prior to waxing and interior detailing. I didn't take any interior pics, just exterior. Nothing fancy like premiershine9, but just a wash and wax.

Was pretty nice yesterday, so I did a half-ass job on the ATS and Malibu with the power washer I got back in the summer for my bday.







I did the caddy mostly by hand other than spraying the soap on with the power washer before rubbing it down with the sponge. I tell you what, I can already tell it is going to be a pain in the ass to keep this black looking good. I think it's basically going to need a wax job after every wash at my house because the water is so hard it's almost impossible to get it wiped down fast enough. Secondly, as this was my first up close time with the car, I discovered quite a few scuffs and scratches that I assume were already on the car when I got it. A buff job in the spring can't come soon enough. None of them seem to be deeper than in the clearcoat, but now that I see them, it is going to bug the crap out of me.

Looks good! That black is soft in terms of paint hardness (least in my experiences) ....that is a wholleeee lotta yardwork on that car to go over with a knife- see you soon, equipment is coming down this weekend or next with my parents as they move south to Raleigh

Took advantage of the 60 deg weather today and did a quick wash to get the caked on salt off. No correction but I finished with meg ultimate wax.
Was impressed that water still beaded up when I washed it.

Too bad its going to snow again tomorrow!

ZOMG, I actually washed my car so I can participate in this! I will ignore the "waxed" part even though the car badly needs it. I think I will actually wax it before H20 since the race car is done for the season (wooohooo) and nothing was broken so it is just clean up. Then pulled it in the garage and pulled apart the rear suspension, replaced a balljoint and put it all back together to make sure I did my manly work quota that day

No better day to wash a car than a cool, overcast one, and I let this get pretty filthy.

Having a polisher really helps cut down on the time to wax. I need to strip the wax to get down to the paint and correct a little, but you can certainly tell she was garage kept. I just used Turtle Wax Hard Shell.







Oh, and here's a wax job I did in like 15 minutes before I sold the E46.
