Why? (Since I'm looking for a car to do similar duty)

Personal preference on looks. I uaed to love the gt but the fozzy just looks so beefy and mean when lowered

Fozzy has a lil more front and rear headroom.

Fozzy is about a foot shorter, also lighter.

If you leave it stock height. More functional in the winter months due to increased ground clearance.

Used parts/after market seems better since wrx/sti suspension/engine bits bolt up.

this is a biggie to me. the foz is basically a tall impreza wagon and shares a large amount of parts with the WRX. the LGT is its own platform (though arguably better and more modern in ways, but bigger). both cars are awesome for the performance per dollar.

for $5K, a pretty sweet little local ride that someone here should track. apparently quite fast and has suspension goodies.

I thought the 05-08 outback/legacy can use parts from one of the wrx generations? :dunno:

I don't know why I shop for Evos, I think I like bad ideas enough to consider owning two at the same time.

Low mileage relatively unmolested 9 RS

8 RS with 9 bumper swap, much cheaper

They can use some parts from the 3rd gen WRX/STI...which aren't exactly filling up junkyards at the moment.

Not worried about junkyards. I'm looking at new aftermarket suspension  if it fits

And if I'm reading it right, the xt has the wrx motor so wrx turbo upgrade?

VF52?

Any aftermarket suspension for the 3rd gen WRX/STI will probably work for the legacy...but most of them sell for the leggy/outback also. And when you say "XT" are you talking about Outback XT or Forester XT? If it's a 2.5 and it's not in a STI then, yes, it's the "wrx motor". But timelinewise, it's probably more accurate to say that the 3rd gen WRX's have the "Legacy" motor. You'll have to be a little more careful there though, as if I recall correctly the downpipes might be different. Never really researched it because never really considered a turbo upgrade...they make assloads of power with bolt ons and a tune.

If you want 350whp you'll need, like, a 20g and supporting mods. And probably like, save your money for a 6MT.

20g or whatever newfangled equivalent. 350whp is, like, kind of a lot for an AWD car.

350AWHP is closer to 400 at the crank taking driveline loss into account. and without the STi 6 speed, you're at the edge of shredding gears by that point.
