Nice.
I'm Considering trying to wriggle out of work and head down Friday, but I'm not sure how realistic that is. I'll stay in touch and let you know what we're doing when I figure it out.

When do you get out of work? If I'm in Sterling I can leave at 5 and just head out 7, that usually has me well ahead of the worst of the traffic and I can get to the burg in like 1:45. If you want to get down Friday night that's what I would do...

DAMMIT. Ultimate pwn is calling someone on their lack of reading comprehension and being wrong because you have no reading comprehension. Maybe I should go home and think about my actions for the rest of the day. :|

MM Dawg will be making an appearance at Summit. We've been working on his leash manners just for it.

Prong collar ftw. How big is diesel right now?

We're doing a gentle leader before we resort to the prong collar.

I've always used these:
No prongs so it won't leave marks or really hurt them, but the more they pull against you the less they breathe, so they learn pretty quick to stay by your side and keep the leash slack.

Hoping I dont need one. Bailey has been insanely good so far. Big thing is as soon as she pulls on the collar I stop, look away and stand completely still till she walks back to my feet. Now she rarely pulls on it, cause it stops her fun, her walk, and makes her have to walk back. Worked so far, we will see later on...

Yeah, my dog apparently does not care about breathing, he cares only about smelling things.
All things. Everything must be smelled, thoroughly so no things are missed, especially things after the rain. It is his purpose, his destiny, his all-encompassing drive: To Smell.
Hard to smell things when your nose is being pulled away from them. I think the GL will probably work, we just need to work with him. I don't think I'll need a choke or prong collar for D.

This will get dragged on forever -- every trainer I spoke with has no qualms with the prong collar. It's not a choke, you simply do a quick correction when the pull/bad behavior occurs and it feels like a small bite on their neck (like what happens when they are pups from their mom)
I had the same perception of prong collars about causing choking/leaving marks, but there have been none. But then again, my dog is a breed that pulls right off the bat. If other methods work, then go for it -- I just wouldn't rule it out. It was my last resort, and I think with any other dogs I get I will be prong.

I have a pitbull boxer mix and the prong collar is the only way my 95lb mom can walk her. I couldn't walk her without it until I have about 14.

You guys don't need to convince me re: prong collar. But we're going to try the GL first, as he does seem to respond to it, and it definitely gives me a greater degree of control over his behavior.
