I'm agreeing with Tyler on the campus events type of deal. I mean I haven't even been to a meeting this semester yet because it always turns into a youtube fest. Why spend an hour bullshitting when I could be doing homework or something? When all of the officers wrote their "plans for office" some said they wanted to bring in guest speakers. Where are those?! I would come to a meeting to actually learn something. I'm not saying anything fancy either. I know some alumni have expressed ideas on coming in to talk about racing, maintenance, or whatever. Wasn't there an idea of getting Dr. Thomas to come and explain the layout of G Force? Did that ever happen? I think it would be cool if everyone in the club had the MM text number so that if someone wakes up on Saturday and says shit it's a nice day to change my oil or wash my car, they can send out a text and see who is interested. In the past 2 weeks, I have worked on my car multiple times either alone or with only 2-3 other people because no one else seems to want to be involved. Getting wrench days or car washes together where Dan has graciously volunteered to donate chemicals seems like a no brainer to me!

Umm so what are we arguing about again? Student Org night? This kind of got out of hand quick, it's not like this club is doomed for hell and our charter is lost, can we calm down a bit? damn. We do sound like freaking sorostitutes.
I don't know how to approach this in a nice way or without sarcasm because its really just funny to me at this point cause I don't even know why we are so heated over something not that big of a deal....really. It's like we are making a big deal out of stuff that is blown way out of proportion. I agree with all of you, yeah the club seems shabby this year but we are doing work to keep it going: we had an article in the breeze, a good g-force sess, we hold Top Gear nights (or at least organize them to happen), we hold officer meetings, and 800 fliers/flyers was a good and quick alternative to Student Org night in my mind. We have lots of plans for the car show and yes we are working on it and explained that 2 meetings ago, the status of it, so I don't know where you people were but we've talked about it......oh well I guess we gotta post the officialness of it on the forum. Like Lincoln and Cody (and perhaps Matt...I forget at this point) said, this club is only led by officers, it takes the whole club's members to run it, why are you complaining about lack of social events now? Why don't you speak up in meetings or something? We try to hold social events (damn Sam was offering his whole DVD/VHS collection and was practically begging the club to come watch some F1 documentaries with him), but if you want something to happen, speak up! Seriously, we'd be ecstatic if you organized something or had a suggestion for improvement. Do we need to create committees within the club...like a social committee or something, I mean perhaps you guys could be more involved and such. If you're having all these wrench days why have you not posted it on the Facebook page for MM or something? Hmm..my reasons for not being fully participant on the forum or my lack of motivation/enthusiasm...well I honestly don't like doing stuff for the club and then getting hit up that we don't do it good enough, well where was the suggestion or help then if it wasn't good enough? Why be mad at it after and not speak up before. Pisses me off. I'd rather spend all my time Coordinating my program for Overcoming Barriers because I get thank yous and gratitude and felt like my time was well spent, so sorry for slacking on the job of MM but I don't know if I am getting anything but "you're doing a sucky job" out of it.

My issues........as of right now anyway.
MM Car Show: no PUBLIC posts about info, time, etc etc that I have seen. Coffee Fundraiser: NO interest by current students/officers to help or even want to raise money for the club. Which is why I have already called it a wash. I want to help the club, but I cant Tech cars, prep my car, drive my car, and sell the coffee and food. Luckily Kaan was there running the table in January, Jake and DJ were busy and helped when they could. Use of the Forum: Current students will use the forum, once you get them out to events and they can talk to and put faces to forum names. I had the same issue, and I am sure Jake/Goodspeed had the same issue, if they see officers using it the current students will follow. I didn't run a single meeting without pulling the forum up on the projector to show people where things were and the threads they need to signup and communicate through. In regards to this being the off season. 1 AutoX has already happened, another is happening this weekend, then VIR the following. Seems like the season is in full swing. Yet I have not seen any interest from the current officers/students in attending any of the upcoming events, aside from Matt wanting to work. Spectating, ride alongs, and getting to know the full time NASA folks is how you get worker spots. As current officers, you guys need to be in Laura Cobetto's face the first event of the season. Last, it is hard to convince current students to come to events, when you as current officers don't show up to any either. From an Alumni standpoint, our view is this. If you don't show up to the track/autoX/other events, and you don't post on the forum. NOTHING is getting done. I could honestly give 2 shits about the Top Gear nights, or eating ice cream at Kline's. That's a great basis for building friendships among current students. My complaint and I feel most other Alumni's complaints are, as Alumni, we can't build those relationships if no one shows up to the previously mentioned track/AutoX events. I don't think I am an asshole in person or on this forum, if I am oh well, 'tis life. I have just put so much time/sweat/life into this club I am depressed at the participation this year at the track/autoX events.

Thus, why we need new officers..... But I think there is a trend. Cody has his Red Bull thing that sucks up his time. Kristin has her Overcoming Barriers thing. Lincoln has his kung fu club that he does. Only one who isn't involved in something else is matt, but he works which keeps him from certain duties. Bottom line, all of our officers have something else they'd rather be doing, or are obligated to do, and I think this is really what it boils down to. We simply have officers who just aren't a good fit and are preoccupied elsewhere, and can't balance time effectively. Not trying to be mean or anything at all in any of this, but I think it's a valid point.

I won't go as far as to say we need new officers just yet, but I think they all need to evaluate where they are at with other clubs, school work, and whatever and see how they can improve on managing the club. If MM is something that you are willing to put on the back burner, then I do not think you should be involved at the officer level. I admit to not being at every meeting or event, but I am just a member and while I should be out at things, I am not obligated to. I'm not saying officers are obligated to attend each and every event, but it would be good if one or more officers were at a majority.

Ok, so I've ready Lincoln and Kristen's posts and I gotta tell you, I agree a little. I don't want everyone to get butt hurt about all this, but the problem is we feel all disjointed. I suggest we all take a moment and reflect on what we've said here. I like all of the officers, I just wish I could get to know you better. I don't expect you all to be at every event, but I do wish to see you all at some events. Anyway, come to Daves for BEERS next Monday. Dan is right, instead of being dicks to each other lets get together with some food beverages and become friends again so we don't have to fight on the internets.

Meeting at Daves and having a good time = what needs to be done.....communication on a forum can only go so far. AND from THAT NIGHT forward- the past is the past- officers.....take charge (including members) and lets get pointed in the right direction - Someone bring a whiteboard or one of those giant fucking flip pads and lets just throw out ideas and set some goals set etc. Adding in my 2 cents. Glad I said something this morning which led to all of this

@tyler, I know the things have not been directed solely at me but I only had the job this semester so if you really think I did not push for this club last semester, then perhaps you are right that I should be replaced because if that's not pushing, I don't know what is
Not once did I put MM on the backburner last semester but I'm not here to change your mind. @justin, I have spoken with laura once and am waiting for a response on both my current future and spot within NASA as well as what we can find for our current members. Also, the forum is brought up in every meeting and even last meeting that I ran because the other officers couldn't make it, I asked why there was no particiation and what the problem was and tried to encourage member particiption. Btw, I have attended every meeting since my first meeting of freshman year. Just sayin although that holds no weight, I don't really appreciate when you don't come to half the meetings and say I have other things I'm more commited to. Don't take this the wrong way, just because I don't appreciate something doesn't mean I can't take it and won't think about it. If I were on my computer, I would post a funny meme and lighten up this situation and I have no ill feelings towards the current members in here right now (jon, dan, and tyler) We can blame ourselves all day long and the thing is, it is about 85% the officers fault, me included but that other 15% has to come from you guys(current members). At the last meeting, I asked what people wanted to do and if anyone had anything they wanted to try after bringing up what the main events for the nasa and autox season were. There wasn't a peep out of anyone. Granted they were mostly our freshman members who may not be as comfortable speaking up but where were you guys besides dan who has things going on. Yes our meetings have turned into youtube compilations, and that unfortunate and needs to be fixed. But it wasn't much better when I was a member and the main reason being we are a car club and when you put us in a classroom, how much can we do. I'll be happy to go over a how to on replacing bmw rear end bushings or a flex disc but is that what you want. We need to know what makes you want to go to a meeting. Honestly to me it was the social aspect of talking to jake and the guys but only a few people did that last year with me and it seems most run out right when the meeting ends. I hang around for half an hour to an hour talking to sam or dan most of the time. This has turned into a somewhat rant and I'm sorry for that : insert funny picture of kitten here: Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

Matt, I understand installing a rear flex disco ball cooling fan might not be exciting, but let's think of things that could be. I for one think when the weather is nice, fuck the classroom, let's go to a parking lot or the top of the garage like the ricers we are and talk cars, pop the hoods, and make fun of each other's ricey mods. I feel like the classroom sometimes brings us down.
