Yeah normally after SON we get a bunch of n00bs on the "Hi my name is" forum, and then they never post again.

Usually a few stick around for the madness!
But yeah, I'm with these two. Any new prospects? Spring has usually been slower than fall (considerably) but we've had a few new folks in the past.
Now:
'16 Ram 1500 | '97 BMW M3 | Some Press Loan
Then:
87 BMW 325e | 91 BMW 535i | 96 BMW 328i | 95 BMW 325i | 95 Mazda Miata | 13 Focus ST | 09 BMW 128i | 00 Pontiac Firebird | 05 Yukon Denali | 96 BMW 328iC | 11 Ford F-150 | 06 BMW M3 | 10 Range Rover SC | '03 Ford Ranger | '18 Ford F-150 | '01 BMW X5 | '98 Volvo S70 T5M
We had one new guy who saw the table tents and came by to Wednesday night's meeting. I can't comment on SON because I had to work that night.

Seriously, do any of the officers other than Matt check this forum more than 1 time a month? I mean, Matt wasn't there because he had to work. Definitely a good enough reason to miss when there are 3 more officers to handle this. And I think 3 people was the limit at the Fall SON. So can somebody call Cody, Lincoln, and Kristen and ask them how it went? Sheesh.

So, I talked to Cody. He said they couldn't get a spot because they messed up the form they turned in but they were able to make 800 flyers for free and put them in student mailboxes.

Amazing. :-?

its a good thing i was in vegas and didnt ride down. I think the amazing thing is we have a 3rd party posting for Cody and the rest of the officers. Sully, i find it hard to believe you didnt know we messed up a form. working is one thing, but not being up front is another thing. And where are the other two? even when i was in college (many moons ago) we found time to goof off on the internet.
getting 800 flyers for free doesnt make up for missing student org night. it should have been the icing on the cake.
I think the alumni are bending over backwards to help you guys be successful, especially when it comes to funds and fund raising. It takes the wind out of the sails when you guys arent doing the basic stuff. it seems like you guys are coasting to next year.

Also, one of you (and I don't care who) needs to call Scott Powell at Bob Wade Subaru THIS WEEK. Just give him a call, introduce yourself, say Rex told you to call. Seriously, they've been a huge supporter of MM, and the fact that he hasn't heard from any of you is a little disappointing. The carshow is just around the corner, and if you want Bob Wade's support, you need to pick up the phone.

I was planning on going into B wade today and introducing myself- thanks Rex for talking me up to inquire about some extra detail work for the dealership on the side, however I am home due to my mom being pretty sick and in the hospital.
As soon as I get back down the coast and in H'burg I'm going to see if I can get one of the officers to come with.
My 2 cents- I know I am a new member here but let me air out some ideas a current member has:
- More social events- during the week we all are pretty busy- why not Saturday/Sunday meet somewhere for 1? maybe two hours just to socialize- hell come nice weather time everyone gather at my place and we can all do a "weekly" wash day, Premier Shine donates the sudz and mitts.
- Turducken was cancelled- 4 or 5 days before the first meeting........... we all knew it was........why didn't we have 5 or 10 possible ideas to have some sort of social event that first weekend in place of it.....say a list by that Wed. when we had our first meeting- I feel like we haven't really done anything this semester thus far.
Apologize if I hijacked the thread or am a hipster who decided to air out his thoughts on the SOG post, I check the forum (no joke) maybe 8 or 10 times a day- couldn't resist speaking up. Hell I'm 7 hours away from VA an sitting next to my mom in a hospital bed while she receives her daily blood transfusion- AND I'M ON THE MM FORUM.
Lets move on as a club and haul ass to build it up and DO MORE STUFF.
Rant switch- off
PS- I would be more than happy to discuss this with any one of the officers- I just feel like a current students opinion especially on this thread would enhance the convo.

Dan, you're not being a hipster, it's just obvious that you care about this club more than the officers do. That's a problem.
We have had poor leadership in the past and gotten through it fine. It is unfortunate that, from what I can tell, there just isn't a lot happening this year. I was incredibly disappointed to read about missing SON. I haven't heard a thing about anyone coming to February's VIR event, working or driving or hanging out and getting rides. I know Bobby wanted to come get rides and hang out. Do any of you know who Bobby is, even? Justin hasn't heard a thing about people coming down this weekend for the NASA autocross.
We alumni are doing all we can to be supportive and help fundraise. This coffee table idea, for example, is an EASY way to get FREE MONEY. And you clowns aren't taking advantage of it. I don't need free money. I have a paycheck for that. But MM The Club has a very limited income and, considering that, relatively high expenses for some things.
I sure as shit hope you guys have started on the car show planning. And didn't screw up the form in the process.
Look, it's not worth me nitpicking and calling out each officer individually here. But I will say this, seeing as I was in the leadership boat for two years and frankly think I and the other officers did a fucking good job of it. We all had jobs working 10-20 hours a week, minimum. We all had a full-time course load. And somehow, we all managed to work our lives so that we could do well in school, not get fired from work, and ATTEND EVENTS.
Oh, and we all posted on the forums. Frequently. I installed a little plugin that lets you read and reply using a smartphone app. I know at least two of the four officers have phones that can use the app. And who do I see posting anything of value? Matt, sometimes. That's it. If we can work full-time jobs, and Dan can be in the hospital checking in, you all can do it too.
Yes, it's a busy schedule. But you know what? I made it work for me. The others made it work for them. And we did it because this club was the means to a greater passion and interest of ours, and sharing that passion with others made us tick.
The passion just isn't there. And for that, I have to apologize. Because I made some of my closest friends through this amazing club, and I would hate to see someone else be denied that opportunity simply because the leadership isn't there.
Am I starting Great Hate '12? I dunno, I don't really care. I've attempted discussion with the officers over email and more private venues, and I guess it's just time to admit publicly that I think they're doing a pretty lousy job.

This situation has literally rendered me speechless, until now. We've been harping and nagging and motivating and helicopter-parenting the current officers since September and it still comes down to this? The fact that the current student that cares the most about the club is posting from his Mother's hospital bedside, worried about how his absence is going to affect the car show. WHEN HE'S NOT A FUCKING OFFICER, and all four current officers are sitting on their able-bodied asses in Harrisonburg...
Think about that situation for a while and try not to get a nosebleed. I've transcended angry, I was angry 2 months ago. Now I'm just bewildered. If this is how much effort you put into something you care about, I don't know how any of you are going to hold down a full time job. And don't give me any bullshit about how busy you are with classes and work and family and beer, we all figured it out and we liked it.

- Thank you Joey, there are more current students in the club who feel the same way and share the same concerns for the club, as its apparent that alumni share the same concerns if not more whole-heartedly.
I don't know what behind the back talking, little gossiping, drama we have going on between the officers or between members etc. BUT STOP THE CRAP, one thing I have learned from being in this club for nearly a year is that the alumni network is strong and insanely close. Work with the alumni and don't ignore it.
SOG didn't happen, what is another way besides flyers we can promote the club? Lets start with that question, next and most importantly- whats the status of the car show? What are a couple goals we would like to have done by the end of the week car-show wise? Next, what is something we can do this week/weekend or regularly for the current members so we can feel as if we are in a club. Hell- meet at my garage in N38 and lets show how to do an oil change- my new Jeep needs it already.
- Just throwing out ideas
If there's one thing I've learned from running a company throughout highschool and in college- connections and communication with those connections are EVERYTHING- we have an amazing group of talented and passionate alumni who want to see MM progress in countless ways.......don't burn those connections.
Cheers!
