We've had the downside to that as well. Its better now that Rex goes by Rex, and its a known alias, so its on our checking account(we are at the same local bank as his parents), which was a big concern to me.

Any new recommendations for credit cards you guys like and use?

Since the US Air merger, the US Airways Premier World MC I have had for years is getting rid of a lot of the benefits that made it appealing. It has been nice to have because it helps me stack up points to fly Rachael for free most places we go (along with my accrued miles / status from work travel). But a lot of the newer cards offer points-to-miles conversions or let you book free flights with no blackout dates on any carrier. And to be honest, US Air is stupid expensive compared to the other carriers when I have to pay for it out of pocket.

I pay off our CC every month thankfully so interest rates are irrelevant. I pay a yearly fee for my current card so I am not opposed to that if the rewards / perks are good but I am not willing to spend $300+ on a credit card, that's dumb.

I have a corporate Amex and rewards points linked to it, which I could combine with a personal Amex but I am not crazy about how some small businesses don't accept it (with the amount of travel I do, I run into this more than you would think). Anything you guys can recommend would be great! Thanks!

I don't know about the air miles portion, but all my coworkers use Hyatt Rewards cards. According to them it was one of the best cards they found for travel. All I know about it is when they go somewhere they end up getting like president suites or whatever that are supposed to be really nice.

Nice, it would be great to keep everything clean and together in my online BoA / Merrill dashboards. It looks like ML has a Merrill+ card that gives you 1 dollar per point but when redeemed for cash back it's basically 1%. Also gives you a ton of other travel related benefits like Amex including concierge, etc.

Capital One Quicksilver has 1.5% on everything it looks like as well.

used to have an airline card, continental maybe, haven't flown much with kids and all now, so switched about 5 years ago to a citibusiness platinum select (whatever the hell that means) no fee, points based rewards. convert it into lowes/HD gift cards usually which is a 1% reward essentially, although they have had sales on them.

been forever since i've shopped cards so interested to see what else is out there.

edit: thankyou.com is their redemption site to see what fabulous prizes you can win

cannot help you with mileage cards, but I've been happy with our Amazon Chase card for a couple years now. 1%, 2% on a lot of stuff, and 3% back on anything you buy on Amazon (if indeed you do that a lot). And of the... 3(?) times our # has been stolen/compromized, they've been quick about fixing it.

Thats interesting. I get 1% or so cash back (well, 'rewards' but I just pick the visa gift cards a few times a year) on my credit union card. Their service has been worth not looking elsewhere.

Spoke with Barclaycard today, I'm good for another 6 months on the paid benefits of my current card and the current benefits will "likely" exist until 2015. I was told that they may change to the new benefits a few months before then though. I'm going to ride this tide and stack up as many miles as I can and keep a close eye on the new cards though unless something changes soon. Right now the BoA cash back card, Capital One Quicksilver and Merrill+ card are at the top of the list. Thanks guys~

Depending on your spending habits you can get 1.75% cash back on all purchases through PNC.

How are you getting 1.75%? The PNC cash back card that I have is only 1.5% and it's the top of the line. The capital one quicksilver is also 1.5% and the two seem to be the highest out right now.

Finally got around to changing our primary card to one that gives us better rewards than the post-nerf US Airways card. Gonna keep the old one active so it doesn't hurt my credit by closing it and keep one or two recurring bills on it. I ended up taking Evan's (and my brother's) advice and going with the BoA Travel Rewards Signature due to how much we are on the road, but the cash back version is really nice too. What pushed this one well ahead of the pack was the fact that if you are a Platinum Honors Preferred Rewards member (ie a lot of your finances are with BoA/Merrill) among other really nice perks is a 75% rewards bonus on your credit card. So 1.5 points per dollar standard plus 75% bonus. There are smaller bonuses at the lower levels of Preferred Rewards as well.

No other rewards card I found comes close with that perk, that gives me 2.625 points for every $1~! Evan if you guys do a lot of banking with BoA you might want to look into that. I can set you up with my brother too if you want to chat with him about either the rewards or cash card they have.

Just saw this, this is what the fiance and I use as our joint credit card while we are combining all our bank accounts. I also have a BoA cash rewards card, but OMG I must get sent a new one every 3-6 months with how much it gets "fradulent" warnings. I had my BBT Visa till it hit the expiration period
