Project XJ

FYI I have a 7-pin on mine. You can buy an adapter that has the flat 4 pin and the smaller round pin ones for like 20$. I just keep it in the jeep so I can tow whatever it is that comes along

This XJ did not have a factory tow package. I'm adding this OEM mopar hitch to it. The OEM wiring kit is like $130...there is no aftermarket 7pin kit for it. So I'm just going with the 4pin you can get for $40.

That looks great! I think that the hooks on the hitch was the right decision.

I think so to. It was the most recovery points for my money. That and I have never seen it done before? :dunno: It seemed so simple, I'm surprised I don't see it on many Jeeps.

This project contains the most amount of win than any other one you've done Jeff. I'd totally love to rock a Jeep or some sort of off-roader and this one looks like its coming together quite nicely. Good work!

Went up to my Grandfather's cabin yesterday. This thing kicks ass. We had a hitch caddy on the back loaded down with shit, it was actually lifting the front tires and reducing the contact patch. I locked her in 4-low and it crawled itself up. Now this road is barely a 'trail' most logging roads are worse. Heck I've been up to the cabin in a minivan...but I did bust the tranny pan. Anyway, it was fun and the Jeep was actually used for work! We had to clear the road of brush and whatnot. Once I get my other skids on I will take it out on a real trail and get a stock baseline.

All of them are aluminium so I am going to guess from looking at them that the Moabs are the most beefy. Steel is the best choice for wheelin but this will live on the street most of the time (though certainly not a mall crawler) so I want it to look niceish.
