Speaking on LCD TVs....Vizio, Element, others?

I'd put the Vizio in my bedroom, I would NEVER consider using it as my primary video source though.

why not - just curious. have you had issues with yours in your bedroom?

i've been thinking of buying the Vizio's and from a lot of their reviews they seem like a pretty decent TV.

They are ok for the occasional movie and to goto sleep to, the picture is nothing compared to a samsung/panisonic/sony, I wouldn't want to have it sitting in my living room as my primary viewing device.

my 47in vizio is perfectly fine for constant viewing, if your in the burg you can stop by and check it out....

Granted the other "name brand" TVs will have a little better picture but you wont be able to tell that much of a difference IMO, or justify the higher cost.

well another big problem w/ the Tier 2 TV's is getting it fixed after the 1yr warranty runs up,

Basically they are 'disposable' big screens.

When's the last time anyone got a TV repaired anyway? I've never heard of anyone sending in any electronics to get fixed othern than laptops.

So if your $3,000 50" plasma takes a shit on you in 13 months you going to toss it in the trash and buy another one? How about your $1,500 LCD? You'd buy a new one rather than spending $500 to have it repaired?

I just pulled a circuit board out of my old CRT HDTV to get a component replaced... Granted, its only costing me a few dollars, since I did most of the hard (re: time consuming) work myself, but its getting repaired rather than junked.

To comment on the 'replaceable' mentality - the more money you spend the less likely you're going to be to replace rather than repair. If my 10 year old bedroom TV goes boom I'm going to toss it, but it would only be about $50 to replace with something comparable. If my 2 year old $3,000 tv went kaput I'd be pretty likely to take it to my local electrical stuff dude and say "fix good"

I just bought a Toshiba 37hl67 and it's sick. Great picture. 360 and hd-dvds look amazing. Now I need to figure out how to get hidef signal in harrisonburg.
