No, its a 5-speed. The diff was all the same between the autos and the 5-speeds and I was just noting that on automatics Chrysler issued those plates as a "fix" and they are now being used as a kind of performance part.

300hp and a stockish automatic do not go together...hehe...Daytona is 100% a 5-speed.

I don't keep up with jeff's projects so when I saw his comment about a guard for a diff pin for an auto, I asked a simple question that didn't involve you nor your opinion. Jeff's answer was succint and was appreciated. You're the one throwing the hissy fit.

Wow, looking thought this thread and going to the track this past weekend really has me wanting to get the Daytona finished. The project has officially gained prime time status again. The bearing I received was once again...the wrong one. So this time I am going to order a complete rebuild kit which should include the bearing. I'm going to have a mechanic help me and I am going to rebuild the whole damn thing.

Next on the list- Brakes
Before we even get the car on the road we are going to pull all four calipers, tear them down, and send them to Rex for powder coating. Turn all 4 rotors and replace the lines with SS type. Sylvia and I will likely begin this process this weekend, I need the wheels off the car anyway for the Sebring.

What brake fluid would you guys recommend? Super Blue DOT 4?

What is a good pad for street/autocross? I'm thinking you are going to tell me I need a different set for each. Thoughts?

I need to get people posting in here again...this thread is starting to look like me talking to myself.

HPS pads, its what ive been recommended by alotta people for street and autoX use.

I'm sadder now.

FWD-P lists "Hawk - Street/Track pads" for the front and the StopTec 911 pads for the rear....icky.

buy a real pad (Carbotech XP9)... and as you MIHS should know... the auto parts store sells wheel cleaner wipes. just make sure you pull off on the side of the road before you get to campus... wipe the wheels down... and then go to class!

Super Blue is good and relatively cheap, however the Castrol Synthetic is also quite good, crazy cheap, and should do the job just fine until you start to experience fade.
As for pads, I've found the Carbotech Panther Plus to be a great combo pad and IIRC if they don't currently make them, you can send one of your old pad backing plates and they'll make it for you. Their pricing is based solely on the area of pad material so that wouldn't be any more expensive.

Jeff,

For AutoX you don't need much of a pad. You'll need a low-temp, high bite pad. You could use Advance Auto's generic Dot-3 and never have a problem. Auto-x's are not hard on brakes.

If you want to do an HPDE, then you need to start working on better fluid, tougher pads.
