The Daytona Project - Jeff - 08-12-2005

Well guys, here is the new and last (for a while) member of the Sylvia & Jeff TD family. It is a 1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby. Sorry for the long load time, only 3 pics

That there is my Ghetto intercooler install...hotness

Performance "mods" as of now (lol)
1- Converted to 2.5L from 2.2
2- Mitsu TE04 turbo, instead of the T3...we will fix that.
3- A555 Transmission
4- Mopar Performance solid motormounts
5- Reinstalled OEM intercooler and BOV from 2.2
6- "Purple Horny" Glasspack muffler

Well, what do you guys think? Not bad for $600 huh?

- Feersty - 08-12-2005

Nice.

- Ginger - 08-12-2005

Man - PVC... always new uses.

- JohnC - 08-12-2005

Jeff, you're a wierd kid.

- ViPER1313 - 08-12-2005

I understand him

Good call Jeff 8)

- ScottyB - 08-12-2005

Jeff, you are becoming to mopars what Chan is to E30's....and that is a very honorable and distinctive status

nice car btw, i mean at least its boosted. how long will the pvc last?

- KPWSerpiente - 08-12-2005

There is nothing new about that use of pvc. Any dsm or omni guy loves himself a home depot.

Another ghetto find. And that is a compliment.

Thanks guys! I am odd but at least I have a running one for a change. Just got a new fender and ordered my paint yesterday Smile. That will be the next supprise! I am not telling of the color until I post pics. HINT- It is a Dupont factory color with an effect that requires them to mix it...$$$. It is a 2005 OEM color from some car company. Smile I am thinking on getting a decal made that says "PVC PERFORMANCE" but I don't need to waste more money on stupid shit. The PVC will be loving-me-long-time on the bottom but I also ordered an TurboXS RFL to mount on a steel top pipe what will be painted to match the car. I'm fighting my old ricer urges like crazy here...anyways...off to wire up the Greddy turbo timer (I have lost my mind!!!!)

Did I mention the car came with 2 engines, 2 transmission, 2 computers, and 2 sets of wheels? Smile

Holy shit man, gotta head straight to the pawn shop.

- Mike - 08-13-2005

you, rex, and chan amaze me. y'all must love cars A LOT more than i do.

- Jeff - 08-15-2005

It has gotten out of hand for me. The number of cars and parts is outside of any reason. I just sold the 2 spare turbos for $150 each and a guy came today looking at a set of wheels and tires and a spoiler and offered me $250 to be delivered next weekend. Yet another said he was bringing $200 for some pieces of the Spirit. So I am hoping this will all work out and I can get the Daytona done and get back to the Omni. I pretty much wanna get the Daytona looking pretty, not leaking, and boosting enough for a peppy daily driver.

- Jeff - 08-22-2005

New parts for this week-
Hatch props
Spoiler
Headliner
RFL Blow Off Valve (ooo its just the riiicer in meeee)

Parts to go on in the first 2 weeks of school-
New fender (bodymasters last one...ever)
used door, front, and rear bumber
front and rear main seals
clutch (slightly used)
short shifter with pimpin ball

- JackoliciousLegs - 08-23-2005

those must be an aquired taste... but glad you're enjoying it, that's the important part.

- Jeff - 09-12-2005

Here is the new stuff!!! review the first post for pics from when I got it!!!

Well, the painting is underway. This weekend Sylvia and I were at the shop for hours on end. We had it stripped a bit from before so here are the pictures taken on saturday morning, before this weekend's work.

TOTAL STRIPAGE OF THE INTERIOR, the doorpanels are in my closet here at school now
[Image: wMTA2Mzk0NjZzNDEzZGZkMzF5NTQx.jpg]

All the images are super compressed. I might make the next batch a bit larger. Here is the new hardpipe and new BOV.

Its nice to be free of the PVC.

So anyways, Jewels and Rex came up on sunday and helped us out a ton (THANKS GUYS!!!)

We sanded and preped all the door jams, removed the rear tale assembly, removed the nose and front fenders and we finished up removing all the panels from the interior. So it came a long way in a weekend. I have a new fender, new nose and rear panel, new lights all the way around, and even a new hatch which has already been painted, I forgot to get a pic.

You can't see from the pic but there is no hatch on the car at all...ahh...open air.

Does anyone know photoshop and can donate a little time and talent to my cause? PM or IM me.

- Dave - 09-12-2005

wow, good work Jeff.

- ScottyB - 09-12-2005

nice! it's really starting to come along. i'm used to most MM projects looking like ass til the very end, if ever, haha.

- Jeff - 09-13-2005

Thanks Dave and Scotty. I enjoy hearing from my fellow mmers. It really helps drive the project onward. I think the most comments will come when its all painted up purdy and the engine is in stage 2 of its likely 3 stage life...the last being the total rebuild in a year or two.
