Project SS!

This was an inline fuse that I had put under the carpet of all places. It fried, and this is why my electric fan had quit working. I had known for a while it was a shitty setup, but I didn't remember exactly how shitty.

Shit, I have at least 3 of those in my car. Confusedhock:
Now: 07 Porsche Cayman S | 18 VW Tiguan

Then: 18 VW GTI Autobahn | 95 BMW M3 | 15 VW GTI SE | 12 Kia Optima SX | 2009 VW GTI | 00 BMW 540i Sport | 90 Mazda Miata | 94 Yamaha FZR600R | 1993 Suzuki GS500E | 2003 BMW 325i | 95 Saab 900S

Well, it was a productive weekend, if a bit aggravating. I finally got that digitial dash in, and wired up in a temporary fashion. Before cleaning everything up I wanted to make sure it was operating correctly, so I need to go for a test drive to set the speedo calibration, tach, mileage, etc. Went to start the car, and it was just turning over and never starting. Tested the ignition module, and it was fine, so I replaced the coil. While I was at it I went ahead and replace the cap and rotor, and for the first time ever, I made my own spark plug wires (MSD 8.5mm) and ran them just how I want them. It wasn't too bad of a job, and the whole thing is nice and tidy looking now.

Finally got the car started and the tach was the only thing in the dash giving me issues. I had to remove an inline filter that was causing the reading to not get to my new dash control module correctly. Got that all set up, and mounted permanently, and the dash completely back together except for the stereo, which is about to be my next project. Feels good.

Drove the car to work today, and fuck, the fan quit working again and on my newly operational temp gauge I can see the temperature spiking over 200+ in traffic and its supposed to be set for 180* so I guess now I get to go back and diagnose that again. Shit.

Just say "screw it" and wire it to a switch on the dash like off-roaders do Big Grin Glad to hear it's coming together!

Couple pictures..module installed behind glove box, and all the red wires are tapped into original harness. This was before I cleaned them up nicely. Guages look like guages, but the only thing running to the cluster now is an Ethernet cable
