Sigh, this is where you show your ignorance on AWD turbo cars. Trust me, it does. Having full boost, full traction, and pulling 1.6 60 foots on street tires while the guys with slicks are pushing to get 1.7-1.8 and the guys on streets trying for low 2 seconds...it helps, tremendously. Also, the launch feature can be set to under a specific speed, say 15 mph. With our awful turning radius, the 180 degrees, I would brake hard, trail braking it in, then pushing in clutch, slamming down to the launch limiter and "popping" the clutch, and come screaming out of the next corner. although I would get WAAAAYYY too much wheelspin at Verona and have to try to prevent her from coming around.

Also you forget, that when regular people are paying attention to launching, the guys with launch limiters are just slamming down the throttle without paying attention to revs and paying attention to what they do in the first corner.

I know, because I've driven a AWD DSM with lots of oontz on an autox course, several times.

The launch is certainly important - but its not 1-2 seconds important, that was the point. Most autox courses have a turn very close to the start line to level the playing field against cars that have a huge advantage off the line as well.

If you are chasing the last few tenths, then yes, that may be your answer. Remember, 1-2 seconds on a 40-60 sec autox course is a huge advantage

Yes....it is a huge advantage. Autox courses are not like those on track, you dont have good surfaces and most fwd and rwd guys are spinning off the line getting going. Typically taking a long time to get off the line. 1 second for the typical car, and 2 if your really balling on a straighter line course. Just because youve driven an awd dsm oh noes! one or two or even three times, does not qualify as knowing everything about them.

Yes 2 seconds is a stretch, but I have lost 2 seconds of time, just in the launch when ive messed up the launch.

You're not kidding actually. I did a google search and couldn't find any other company that actually sold those. I still don't typically recommend people buy from there unless you absolutely have to have something right away or you can't find it anywhere else.

RM no longer is by themselves, basically bought by MachV to sell the rm racing sway bars. No other company can even get them. Although RRE might still have some laying around. 300 dollars is good for a complete set of sway bars, plus he doesnt have to pay shipping cause I can go pick them up.

Dan can also get his hands on stuff a lot of other people cant, ive gone to him for a few minor things that tweak my car just a little different.

There's a difference between losing time at the launch (you can lose time anywhere really due to mistakes) and a single mod gaining you a consistent 1-2 second advantage - that was my point about the DSM link. It will probably help provide for consistent launches, but going from a good start off the line to a great one, if its dialed in, isnt going to net you that much time.

A good comparison is probably 60' times at the dragstrip.

Then definitely get the DSMlink first so that you know your car will be running optimally and you're getting the most out of your setup.

OMG RJ, your smart, read previous posts, I already posted up 60 foot times. And remember the 60foot drag times are with burnouts and good drag strip launch pavement. A pavement has nowhere near the traction. So, if stock tired or street tired DSMs are pulling consistent 1.6 and a good street tired fwd is pulling 2.0, thats .4 seconds difference in OPTIMAL conditions. Now lets throw in some dirt, cracked pavement, and sand (especially at verona) and lets see where this awd launch will really get a kickstart. Also the 1-2 seconds is just not in the launch but in the focus you can put in that first corner instead of worrying about launch/first corner.

Smooth street pavement is a lot of time is rougher, and has better traction than on a drag strip.
